Nintendo 3DS owners have definitely had it good as of late, and momentum for the handheld doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon. With several Triple-A titles set to hit the portable in the coming months, one that easily stands out as a must-have game is Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D. It would seem that the wait for Snake's 3DS debut won't be much longer either, as Konami has officially announced that they plan on launching Snake Eater 3D in North America next month.

February 21st, 2012 is the date that everyone can now mark on their calendars, as the remake of the PS2 classic will be appearing on store shelves then. Players will take the reins of Snake back in the 60's during the Cold War, as he crawls through dense jungle terrain, assassinates enemy soldiers, and, well, eats snakes — all of which can be done in glorious 3D.

Stealth, as in every Metal Gear Solid game predating Snake Eater 3D will be the difference between life and death for the player, so they'll have to tread quietly if they plan on making it to the end of this delightful endeavor.

Konami has also confirmed that Metal Gears Solid: Snake Eater 3D will be compatible with Nintendo's Circle Pad Pro accessory, which will definitely make playing the game a much smoother experience overall. It's also the best reason we've heard to pick up the new peripheral for North Americans thus far.

In other news, Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima has also announced that in honor of the game's release, a special snakeskin version of the Nintendo 3DS will be made available as part of a bundle with the software. As of this writing, Japan is the only country confirmed to be getting this designer fashion statement of a video game device, but gamers can expect more details on the product come January 20th.

To help build the anticipation, Kojima was kind enough to tweet a teaser picture of the limited edition 3DS, and it can be seen below.
