As many of you know, Metal Gear Solid's Raiden will soon be getting his very own video game (Metal Gear Solid: Rising), but apparently that's not the only game you'll be able to take control of the sword-wielding cyborg. An anonymous tipster has released photos of Raiden appearing as a playable character in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood.

Clearly a collaboration between Konami and Ubisoft, including Raiden in a popular game like Brotherhood is great advertisement for the eventual release of Rising. The two companies have worked together in the past as Assassin's Creed's Altair was an unlockable costume in Metal Gear Solid 4, so the turnabout here is not totally surprising.

According to Joystiq, gamers will be able to unlock the costume after completing all of the quests inside of the Animus' brand spanking new "virtual training" mode. Still unknown is whether all of the missions will be available in the "virtual training" mode from the get-go, so that gamers could tear through the entire campaign as Raiden.

Hopefully Raiden will be able to chop up some Templars with those wicked swords of his.

If Raiden can be unlocked from the beginning, then he'll certainly be the preferred choice of everyone at Game Rant for the single-player game. We don't mean that as a shot against Ezio, but even highly-skilled assassins can't compare to highly-skilled cyborg assassins in terms of appeal.

Raiden in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood hasn't been confirmed by either Ubisoft or Konami, so this could just be an elaborate hoax to get the internet in a tizzy. The photos do look pretty authentic though, but consider this a rumor for now.

What do you think about the possible appearance of Raiden in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood? Who would win in a fight? Ezio or Raiden?
