Medal of Honor Warfighter Gameplay Video

Electronic Arts and developer Danger Close have been hard at work on the next installment in the Medal of Honor series. Medal of Honor: Warfighter has received a nice visual upgrade from its predecessors, courtesy of its shiny new Frostbite 2 Engine as is evident in the new trailer released today.

The gameplay appears similar to that of 2010′s Medal of Honor, but with the visuals of Battlefield 3 to match. For the most part, it’s reminiscent of most of today’s modern first-person shooters, for better or worse.

The Warfighter trailer shows off the locations players will play through during the game’s campaign, including Bosnia, Yemen, Pakistan, Somalia, and the Philippines (the latter of which is where the actual mission featured in the video takes place). The action that follows is sure to get fans of the franchise excited for the upcoming Medal of Honor: Warfighter.

Destructible environments (or at the very least pre-rendered destruction) are found in almost every portion of this gameplay trailer, and the action at the very least, is intense.

Medal of Honor: Warfighter takes place in the midst of “Global Terror” with a story written based on real events by  Tier 1 operators while on active duty, serving overseas. Terrorist organizations that use explosives known as PETN (pentaerythritol trinitrate) to do their dirty work will be one of the main focuses of the game, and one would assume that diffusing their bombs will play a central role. Of course, diffusing bombs won’t be all there is to do – that much is evident just by watching the trailer.

From what you’ve seen, can the MOH sequel compete with EA’s own Battlefield 3 and the latest Call of Duty titles?

Medal of Honor Warfighter is set to shoot up the first-person shooter scene on October 23rd for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.

  1. Every scene looks like something I’ve already seen and done in a Call of Duty game, just with different characters.

Show off the gameplay modes – that’s the only unique selling point.

  2. I agree with ^Rob. Shooters these days are all the same game and its getting quite redundant to say the least. besides I mean CoD, Battlefield, and MoH, are all just for online play anymore. So I mean it could have a freaking awesome story mode, but evidently Im the only person on this rock who cares about the story mode instead of the stupid online.
    But I digest…
Anyways, MoH used to stand for something back in the day! I miss the days of great games like Frontlines, or Rising Sun where it meant something. It was a war game about stuff that actually happened! Not about some terrorist who is plotting to destroy the US… WHICH IS EVERY FPS WAR SHOOTER! I wish MoH would have stuck with its guns and continued with the WW2 and older wars stuff.

    • Though I agree the lines between FPS games these days are getting blurred. I just thought I’d mention that the missions in Warfighter are recreations of actual Tier 1 operations. So it’s not based on some fictitious terrorist plot to destroy the US. The WW2 games were great, but nobody wants yet another WW2 game, everything WW2 has already been done. I for one really liked the 2010 MoH, the campaign was pretty awesome; multiplayer not so good but that just means they have to do better with this one.

  3. *Sigh* another Call of Duty imitator. If they want to attract people away from COD they’ll have to do better than this.

    • I will say, the guy with the boonie hat looks alot like Captain Price.

  4. cant wait for proper gameplay without the stupid cuts. the way i see it anything is a change from CoD, regardless of how many copies that bs sells it’s still a load of trash compared to other shooters that are coming out or are already out.

i can’t wait for the CoD fad to end, that way dev’s can spend the time and resources on making actual games instead of wannabe “CoD’s”.

  5. Um, is it completely crazy to think that this will probably have more in common with the previous Medal of Honor than Call of Duty?? I don’t know, just a crazy idea. I know Call of Duty is the only thing anyone thinks about anymore whenever shooters are mentioned…

  6. Oh damn, I loved MoH 1′s campaign, specially the graphics and smooth animations and gameplay and all…now this looks even better! Really excited about now, make the campaign a few hours longer than the other one and be a bit less linear I guess and they’d strike gold! Now I just need more uncut gameplay footage. :D

  7. I agree the campaign was pretty fun, it had those intense driving moments that made the game awesome during the campaign, can’t wait to hold it off again aginst the terrorists.

Is it me or this music direction sucks crap out of a straw.
