Greg Goodrich, Executive Producer at Danger Close, has confirmed that his studio is in fact developing a follow up to 2010′s Medal of Honor reboot. Interestingly, the new game is not currently being referred to as a direct sequel to last Fall’s title, but merely as “the next Medal of Honor.”
The last addition to the military-themed shooter series that started them all earned generally middling reviews, and was quickly forgotten in the wake of Call of Duty: Black Ops. Nevertheless, the game performed well enough at retail, with Goodrich claiming that over 5 million copies were sold. With any luck, the game may have laid the groundwork for an even more successful future.
News of the forthcoming game broke in a blog post titled “In Case You Were Wondering…” on the official Medal of Honor website. After thanking fans, Goodrich took a moment to subtly acknowledge some of the shortcomings of the previous game:
“Since our launch last October, we’ve studied, listened and absorbed much of your feedback and are very excited to be marching forward on the next title.”
He then went on to respectfully acknowledge the support Medal of Honor has received from the military community:
“As you all know, our goal was to tell the story of today’s soldier and to do so with the utmost respect and reverence. We’ve received many letters, emails and messages from active servicemen and women from around the world, along with veterans and their families, with appreciation for our recent depiction of their community. I can’t tell you how important this is to everyone here at Danger Close Games. You are the heartbeat of this team and this franchise and we are privileged and honored to tell your story. Medal of Honor has always been fueled by the passion of our fans and the commitment and sacrifice shown by the men and women of our armed services.”
Beyond confirming the existence of the game, and a suggesting that fans “check back often to the website and the fan page on Facebook,” Goodrich had no further information to offer.
Electronic Arts has made no secret of its intention to rule the FPS roost. While admitting that the last Medal of Honor didn’t meet quality expectations, the company has recently been bold enough to claim that Battlefield 3 will be the “best product in the industry,” and have further teased an as-yet-unannounced exciting new FPS. Where exactly a new Medal of Honor fits in those plans is not entirely clear, nor is the timeframe of the game’s release.
With Modern Warfare 3 apparently suffering a troubled development cycle, requiring that Raven and Sledgehammer be brought in to help, the time may be finally be right for Electronic Arts. Danger Close is still a relatively new studio, and its best work may be yet to come. For now, we’ll just have to wait until more news on the forthcoming game is revealed.

I’d totally play another MoH game. The last one was really good. A little easy, but good. If the next game isn’t a follow up I would like to see a game where North Korea invaded South Korea and attacked it’s allies aka us. We fight back and attempt to liberate them. The main army is losing and leaves and a small rag tag group stay behind. They infiltrate North Korea and stop a nuclear launch thus saving the day

story wise both homefront and crysis 2 are great/engaging, MoH only showed us how hardcore tier 1′s can be nothing more and certainly less.
if dice doesn’t get involved with MP and someone who knows how to make a MP game gets in then i might consider picking this up. i didn’t play MoH b/c it didn’t really appeal to me that much, it felt like another generic shooter that set out to compete with the ‘big guns’… so to speak.
The first one was good… but it was too standard and a little boring. It had nothing new, the multiplayer was useless vs. CoD and BF.
I’ve played all the MoH games and almost all the Call of Duty games right up to the latest, MoH the newest one was nothing special for me, but it did show how good a game could be with a little more work i reckon it would’ve have been a great game. i liked this game over Black Ops because the story for Black Ops had the years changing over and over and the story different to what i like it gave me a headache on a few occasions
Who the heck bought those 5 million copies? I don’t know a single person who actually bought this game let alone someone who actually liked it enough to buy it.
I hope they bring more weapons in the new MoH! cuz so baaaaaad of choice in the last one :\ and it was to easy yeah..
