Highlights

  • Marvel's cosmic entity Galactus is a dangerous foe, needing to consume planets for survival.
  • Galactus has been both ally and enemy in various Marvel storylines, often with Heralds.
  • Potential voice actors like Ronald M. Banks could bring new personality and humor to Galactus.

Marvel Comics is known for having a wide variety of incredibly dangerous villains and on that list is the oldest being in the universe, known as Galactus. Galactus for those that don't know, is a giant cosmic entity that can only survive by consuming planets. Born as a mortal man named, Galan, who lived during the previous universe (prior to the Big Bang) he merged with the sentience of his universe after it was destroyed, which made him become the entity fans know today.

Galactus has been seen as both an ally and a foe in various Marvel comics, depending on the storyline. He's often seen as a villain bent on sustaining his own life force and must be stopped at all costs. When Galactus arrives, he is often accompanied by a group of Heralds that go out to search for potential worlds to consume. One of the most popular Heralds is known as the Silver Surfer. They end up recruiting the Fantastic Four and Earth's heroes in order to defeat Galactus, though it's not anything close to being an easy task.

Fortnite adds a skin and extra cosmetics themed after the Silver Surfer from Marvel Comics as part of its 'Nexus War' season of content.

Now that a version of the Silver Surfer has been cast in the next Fantastic Four movie, it seems more likely that the MCU is going to also bring in Galactus as the next big threat to this version of the team in the MCU. Keep in mind some writers in the comics have said that Galactus' appearance is said to look different depending on which world he's invading because he's a cosmic entity. Whichever world he nears, the inhabitants perceive him as their own worldly perception. There's no telling how Disney will approach this specific aspect of the character, but since Earth is a human planet, Galactus often resembles a human appearance. Therefore, Disney may either decide to replicate the faces of these actors or just utilize their voices instead while going with his iconic classic comic book look for his next live-action appearance.

5 Scott Lawrence

A Powerful Voice That Many People May Recognize

Scott Lawrence is known as one of the prominent voices for Darth Vader. Being capable of replicating what the legendary voice actor James Earl Jones did during the original live-action Star Wars films. He's played Darth Vader in both animated shows, and video games in properties such as Star Wars: Rebels and even Star Wars: Squadrons, to name a few. He has also provided other voices, such as Jarek Yeager in Star Wars: Resistance. His voice can be booming, authoritative, and powerful, so if Disney is looking to find someone to play a galactic cosmic entity like Galactus then Disney will want to cast someone whose voice can carry while also striking fear.

Lawrence is very good at replicating that aspect of Vader, so it shouldn't be hard for him to make the switch to Galactus. This would be a great choice if the creative team were only looking for someone to provide a voiceover, and not digitally recreate their face on a CGI model, as Lawrence isn't a huge name.

4 Ronald M. Banks

Could Give Galactus A New Personality

Ronald M. Banks is known for playing Quan Chi in the recent Mortal Kombat titles (Mortal Kombat 9 & X). Quan Chi for those who don't know, speaks in a "proper" or awkward manner which can come across as very old English. It often doesn't fit with the contemporary social cues or even the humor of the characters who are from the present timeline.

The lore of Mortal Kombat often takes a backseat to the fighting, as it should, but NetherRealm have created some crazy lore to set their games in.

Specifically for that reason, it would be a good choice to have him play Galactus considering that he's the oldest living thing in the Marvel Universe since he was born before the Big Bang. The MCU is known for adding quirky humor to their movies, and a voice performance like this would make Galactus both humorous and intimidating at the same time.

3 Richard Epcar

An Actor With A Great Voice And Experience As A Villain

Going off of the awkward vintage way of speaking comes the third pick, which is Richard Epcar. He has a wide range of characters, often known for playing roles such as the Joker and Ansem from Kingdom Hearts. However, the reason he's on this list is not for either of these two roles. It's actually because of his time as Raiden in the recent Mortal Kombat games.

He fits in the same area as Quan Chi in terms of talking in older "eloquent" English, which makes him feel out of place or not of Earth. Raiden is also a cosmic entity known as an elder god in the Mortal Kombat universe, so making the switch won't be something unseen. The actor also has range, so Galactus would be a relatively easy voice to replicate in comparison to a voice like the Joker.

2 Christopher Judge

From Bold God To Cosmic Titan

Known for portraying Kratos in the recent 2018 God of War video game, Judge is a very talented voice actor. If he can portray the God of War in the best way possible, then the actor would be a perfect choice for portraying a character like Galactus. Many fans thoroughly enjoyed his casting as Kratos because he was able to invoke the fear, anger, and stoic nature needed for a character like that.

The God of War games have an amazing cast of characters, but some of them don't quite get the credit they deserve. Here are the most underrated ones.

Kratos also has very iconic quotes that many gamers repeat to this day, so having him play Galactus means Marvel fans will be repeating those lines as they walk out of the theater. There is little difference between playing a God and a huge cosmic being, so Judge would have few hurdles to climb to get from Kratos to Galactus.

1 Andy Serkis

The King Of Motion Capture

Andy Serkis has made a name for himself as the go-to for motion capture or VFX (Gollum, King Kong, and Caesar to name a few). He's able to effectively replicate characters who aren't even human, which is a feat on its own. He's also had experience directing superhero movies, as he was the man behind the camera for Venom: Let There Be Carnage.

Even though Serkis has already appeared in the MCU as Ulysses Klaw, there's no reason he can't disappear into another role. If his range can go from Caesar from The Planet of the Apes films and to Gollum from The Lord of the Rings films, then the actor wouldn't be far off from playing Galactus. Andy Serkis has plenty of experience to prove that he could provide a stoic voice, and do the motion capture for the performance, while also being completely unrecognizable.
