The long, long, long wait will be over soon. Rockstar Games is releasing the first trailer for Max Payne 3 next week on September 14, 12pm EST. What better way to celebrate this fact than by releasing a one-sheet poster for the announcement? Film noir fans will certainly be excited by this prospect.

The poster bears similarities to the L.A. Noire box art, so perhaps the same artistry team was used. Whoever did it, though, successfully embodied the idea of Max Payne 3 pretty well.

We have Max: bloodied, disheveled, a gun in one hand and a glass of whisky (or scotch) in the other. A beautiful woman being held hostage by a masked assailant against a backdrop of a metropolis. Classic noir.

The game was once thought to be a dead project, but Rockstar cast those thoughts aside and released a great deal of screenshots as well as talked about some of the game's story and gameplay elements. The poster can already start testifying to what the trailer's contents will be.

This is before Max decided to shave his head and wear weird Hawaiian shirts, so it could be inferred that this situation is the contributing factor to Max abandoning the police department - in order to move to Brazil and work as a bodyguard. Or it maybe it isn't. Who knows?

Another bonus about the fact a trailer is coming next week (September 14, 12pm EST, mark your calendars) is that the release date for the game might actually be announced. Whether or not it will be this year or not is an entirely different story. With a wealth of games already coming out during the holiday season, it would be tough to compete with titles like Skyrim, Battlefield 3, and Modern Warfare 3, among other games.

Max Payne 3 has no release window yet, but will probably release for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
