Master Chief Helmet Spotted in Destiny

Whether it's a giant shark in Battlefield 4 or a special message from a developer to a loved one, we're huge fans of the Easter Egg here at Game Rant. It doesn't have to be something big and flashy either, like the retro Wolfenstein send-up in The New Order, even a subtle reference or head nod will work.

And while plenty of developers are known for their Easter Eggs, few do it better (or bigger) than Bungie. Since the very first Halo, Bungie has been regularly tossing small surprises fans' way, and they've seemingly continued that trend with their new game Destiny.

Obviously, since Destiny has only been available for less than a week, we don't have a full list of Easter Eggs for you. But what we do have is a clever little "wink" that pays homage to the series that made Bungie a household name: Halo.

The Easter Egg in question can be found on Mars during the planet's Strike mission and features what looks to be Master Chief's helmet. Of course, since Bungie loves deception, it's not an actual helmet, but rather a small installation designed to look like the iconic garb of Spartan 117.

When this Easter Egg first surfaced some debated whether it was actually a nod to Halo, but the placement of the lights on the top of the building and the orange glow of its interior are hard to overlook. Even the green flag draped down the middle has similar embellishments to Master Chief's helmet.

Given Bungie's long history with the Halo franchise, we're not surprised to see a clever little nod to the series; in fact, we doubt that this is the only Halo Easter Egg in Destiny. But, like we mentioned, the game has only been on the market for less than a week, which means that gamers have yet to go over the game with a fine-toothed comb. We know those Easter Eggs are out there, though, and it won't be long before more discoveries start flying in.

What do you think of this Halo Easter Egg in Destiny? Have you found any other Easter Eggs while playing?

Destiny is available now for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
