BioWare is set to release their latest batch of DLC for Mass Effect 2 today, the Equalizer Pack. For the small price of 160 Microsoft Points you’ll gain access to two new helmets and a new set of armor, each with unique stats and powers.
Here’s BioWare’s description of each item you’ll acquire from the DLC:
The Capacitor Helmet stores power for kinetic barriers, allowing Shepard’s shields to recharge faster. The Archon Visor manages omni-tools and biotic amps, reducing the recharge time of Shepard’s powers. The powered Inferno Armor speeds up Shepard’s movements and increases his tech and biotic power damage, additionally stress analysis software even gives him an edge in negotiations outside of combat. The Equalizer — when the armor goes on, the gloves come off.
Mass Effect 2 has been pretty respectful with their DLC up to this point, so I’m going to let this one go. If you’re going to introduce two new characters into the game, and then throw in a little horse armor, you deserve a free pass.
What do you think, Ranters? Interested in picking up the new Mass Effect 2 DLC to help with that Insanity run?

This dlc pack is terrible. Its NOT a good value at all. BW needs to stop with
the clothing and armor, and start giving us actual mission packs that are not
recruiting missions. C'Mon BIOWARE!!
It's definitely disappointing to see them charging for DLC like this. I think it'd be more valuable to release it for free, simply to get players back into Mass Effect, where they would be more interested in picking up a full mission DLC.
Awful DLC. I'm totally uninterested in paying for Helmets and Armour. Where are the sizeable mission packs I was expecting?
I love Bioware games, but I have been fairly unimpressed with their DLC content's “bang for the buck”…
Overall, DLC seems to be a way to nickel and dime the “completists” out there. Paying merely for gear (in a game that really gave you pretty limited gear selection) is not ok by me, and I don't think I'll be buying this. Not to mention the whole scheme of making you buy “blocks” of credits so that you always end up with a sitting balance is not ok by me either.
DLC like this was fine when they weren't charging for it, however there is no value in this DLC worth paying for. I hold bioware in high regard, and things like this while it may seem like not a big deal really bothers me.
I like that Bioware is being faithful to their commitment to release a ton of DLC for Mass Effect 2, but at what point will it begin to hurt us as gamers.
Sure we have Zaeed and Kasumi as characters and have their character missions to add onto the game, but you can hold conversations with neither, and they just aren't that great of characters. And we also have the Hammerhead DLC from the Cerberus Network. But that is all we have in terms of story driven DLC.
I know it may take some time for Bioware to develop even a decent sized expansion to the game and I want them to take their time making any possible expansions as good as they can be, but for those of us who've already played the game until we were satisfied, mere weapons and armor are not enough(at least for me) to draw me back into the game.
I wouldn't pay for DLC that only contains armor.
I already dislike the fact you can't chose wether to wear normal clothing rather than armor and its also annoying that all the support character have way cooler clothing than your character does , and the armor in mass effect two is not even as good as the armor in mass effect 1.
dlc that is simply a couple of helmets and some more ugly ass armor simply isn't worth paying for.
