LittleBigPlanet 2 4 Million Levels Created

Fans of LittleBigPlanet 2 are as enthusiastic and creative as ever. Combined with the levels created in the original LittleBigPlanet, the amount of levels that have now been shared online by players stands in at over 4 million. On average, that means that since the release of the original LittleBigPlanet back in October 2008, players have been creating a mind-bending 4400 levels a day.

Should someone attempt to play LittleBigPlanet 2 for 12 hours a day, it would take them over 78 years to play through all of the shared levels, according to PlayStation Blog. Such astonishing numbers are a testament to the popularity of the Media Molecule creation, and the community that continue to support the game. With such support, it’s little wonder that LittleBigPlanet 2 has set 5 world records since its release.

Media Molecule are pretty happy with the continued community support, here’s what they had to say:

“For us the most exciting thing has always been seeing what the community does with a LittleBigPlanet game when they get their hands on the new features and tools. We’re constantly delighted – and amazed – by their ingenuity and creativity, and it’s so inspiring to see the level of affection that exists for LittleBigPlanet amongst fans around the world.”

Amid all of the celebration, we also got some details on upcoming downloadable content for LittleBigPlanet 2. On April 26, the Tron: Evolution Minipack which will set players back $2.99 and feature a Tron sticker pack as well as two new outfits (one pictured above). In addition to the Tron goodies, a Killzone 3 Minipack was also teased with an awesome new costume, dubbed the Hazmat Trooper (pictured below).

4 Million levels shared online is a fantastic achievement for Media Molecule, and the creator of the now iconic Sackboy character will be looking forward to hitting the 5 million, or even 10 million target in the coming months and years. LittleBigPlanet 2 improved on many questionable areas of the first installment, and while there is still progress to be made — especially with the platforming — there is no doubting that LittleBigPlanet is spurring creativity all over the world, and we think that’s fantastic.

Did you share one of the 4 million LittleBigPlanet levels? Are you still playing the game much and looking forward to the DLC? Let us know in the comments.

  1. I’m not surprised that over 4 million levels have been made in LittleBigPlanet 2 so far. What is surprising is the quality the levels are that the fans are making.
Those costumes are pretty cool too, so I may have to check them out.
