‘LEGO Marvel Super Heroes’ Trailer & Stan Lee Gameplay Footage

Published 1 year ago by

If you can’t get enough of Marvel characters in the comic books and movies alone, then a new deliverance is on the way in the form of LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, the new LEGO adventure featuring many, many characters from the Marvel universe, a few more of which were revealed at San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend. The game was announced earlier this year, and fans of both the Marvel comics and Traveller’s Tales games have no doubt been eagerly awaiting further details.

First of all, check out the new trailer above, affectionately titled “Big Figure,” which features many of the heroes and villains that will appear in the game duking it, with a particular emphasis placed on Hulk and his almighty roar. Rhino’s there too, as is the Invisible Woman, and the Thing, and Tony Stark, and Wolverine and… well, it’s honestly very easy to lose count of the characters featured in this trailer.

Polygon reports that LEGO Marvel Super Heroes also gives players the chance to take on the role of the ultimate hero of the Marvel franchise: Stan Lee himself. Gameplay footage played at SDCC revealed the legendary comic book writer displaying powers that emulate those of the characters he co-created, including Spider-Man-style web-slinging and a transformation into Hulk Lee. Check out some gameplay footage of Stan the Man in action below, courtesy of IGN.

If that doesn’t quite satisfy you, there was even more revealed during the Marvel Comic-Con panel. Clark Gregg will lend his smooth tones to the game as Agent Coulson, and along with Stan Lee, other real-life Marvel “characters” will include Marvel CEO Joe Quesada and editor-in-chief Axel Alonso. Howard the Duck and Squirrel Girl also get a look-in, as do Gambit, Green Goblin, Juggernaut, Dr. Doom, Jean Grey, Sabretooth, Vulture, the Punisher, Beast, Storm, Silver Samurai and Magneto. Deadpool will appear as a playable character (hopefully he’ll be on his best behavior) and Iron Patriot will be available as a pre-order exclusive.

Are you planning to enter this super-powered adventure? Check out the Game Rant preview of LEGO Marvel Super Heroes from Comic-Con, and tell us what you think of the footage so far in the comments.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes will be released on PC, Wii U, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo 3DS, DS and PlayStation Vita later this year.

  1. this game looks a thousand times better (in every way) than that PoS diablo clone mmo marvel game that came out a few months ago.

the amount of detail they put into every character is incredible, and just like the ign clowns said ‘you can just screw around in one area with all these characters and it’s still fun to look at’ THAT is how you entertain :D

  2. “Big Figure” was meant to showcase the new big figure series that (I think) was never featured before in previous LEGO games. That’s why it has Hulk, Abomination, the Thing, Kingpin, Rhino, Blob and others. Previous games only had robots and arranged blocks, and not big size figure.

I think that’s a great improvement, especially compared to the LEGO Batman 2, because now we can actually play giants running amock. Plus, the number of heroes included in this game is wonderful as well, and they aren’t just side/purchasable character but built into the storyline as well. I’m getting this game for sure!

    • not to mention that every character is somewhat unique in terms of attacks, animations and ‘personality’:)

really looking forward to this :)
