Lego Dimensions is receiving several new franchise packs in November, including Sonic the Hedgehog, Fantastic Beasts, Gremlins, Adventure Time and more.

Wave 6 of Lego Dimensions is quickly approaching, marking the start of the popular toy-to-life game's second year of new content. Despite Wave 6 landing on September 27, Warner Bros. is ready to move on to Wave 7. This morning all Wave 7 expansion packs for Lego Dimensions were revealed, including the previously announced Sonic the Hedgehog and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Six new packs in total, all available starting on November 18.

Considering Lego Dimensions has a variety of different expansion packs that each offer a different kind of content, here's what Wave 7 will specifically offer:

  • Story Pack ($49.99)
    • Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them - Magical Congress LEGO Gateway set, Newt Scamander figure, 3-in-1 Niffler/Sinister Scorpion/Vicious Vulture figure.
  • Level Pack ($29.99)
    • Sonic the Hedgehog - Sonic figure, 3-in-1 Sonic Speedster/Blue Typhoon/Motobug figure, 3-in-1 The Tornado/Crabmeat/Eggcatcher figure.
  • Team Pack ($24.99)
    • Gremlins - Gizmo figure, Stripe figure, 3-in-1 R.C. Racer/Gadget-o-Matic/Scarlet Scorpion figure, 3-in-1 Flash 'n' Finish/Rampage Record Player/Stripe's Throne figure.
  • Fun Pack ($11.99)
    • Adventure Time - Marceline figure, 3-in-1 Lunatic Amp/Shadow Scorpion/Heavy Metal Monster figure. *Toys "R" Us Exclusive
    • E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial - E.T. figure, 3-in-1 Phone Home/Mobile Uplink/Super-Charged Satellite figure.
    • Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them - Tina Goldstein figure, 3-in-1 Swooping Evil/Brutal Bloom/Crawling Creeper figure.

The headline franchise for Wave 7 is of course the Harry Potter spin-off movie Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which is set in wizarding world of the USA rather than England. Sonic and the Gremlins are taking supporting roles in this wave. Poor E.T. only gets a Fun Pack, a tad overshadowed by more of the popular supplementary packs for Adventure Time and Fantastic Beasts.

Considering Wave 7 will be Lego Dimensions' big holiday retail push, it's no surprise to see Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them featured so prominently. With the profound success of the Harry Potter movies, the spin-off is near guaranteed to be a huge holiday hit. That said, it isn't at all a coincidence that the Lego sets come out the same day as the movie launches, so there are sure to be plenty of gamers excited by the release.

The supporting packs of Wave 7 are a bit surprising, though. Sonic the Hedgehog maintains a certain popularity but isn't exactly surging right now, and both Gremlins and E.T. will have trouble hitting it off with a generation that's likely to have never seen the movies. Nevertheless, Lego Dimensions seems to be finding success in odd places with its toy releases up until now. Who knows what will find a home on the platform next?

Lego Dimensions is currently available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Wii U.
