The first few days of Comic-Con 2014 have given fans of the Caped Crusader plenty to be excited about thanks to the cape and cowl being on display and the second photo of Ben Affleck in Batman V Superman hitting the web. That Detective Comics high is likely to continue later this weekend as more Batman V Superman previews leak out and announcements concerning the Batman comics arrive at one of DC's panels, but fans won't have to wait until then to get another dose of the DC hero. Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham made an early appearance at the con to unveil the first full-length trailer for the upcoming action game.

Warner Bros. released the new trailer today and it brings more of the interstellar action that was introduced in the recent teaser. The trailer kicks off with a distress signal going off that calls all available members of the Justice League into battle. The game's title is definitely apt, as we watch all of earth's heroes rocketing off into space. When we say "all of earth's heroes," we're barely exaggerating...

As you can see in the trailer, Beyond Gotham gives players a giant roster of characters to choose from, pulling from all corners of the DC Universe near and far from Gotham. Players will be able to fight crime on the ground and in the sky with over 150 playable characters. Batman may be the titular character, but Beyond Gotham is sure to only make a pit stop in Gotham in this game and ultimately deliver a much larger, more ambitious Lego experience (similar to Lego Marvel Super Heroes) this time around.

Lego Batman 3 Comic Con Trailer

Gamers who are lucky enough to find themselves at SDCC this weekend will be able to get a much closer look at the world of Lego Batman 3 over the next few days. Fans can get an early hands-on experience with the game throughout the weekend and can pick up some insider info on the game at the Lego Batman 3 panel Sunday at 1 p.m. After the panel, the game's voice actors will be stopping by the DC booth to sign posters for visitors.

The Lego line of games has been getting stronger all the time and if Beyond Gotham follows in the footsteps of The Hobbit and Marvel Super Heroes, then WB and TT Games likely have another addicting, funny hit on their hands. The game draws from some really great source material; combining characters from Justice League, villains from Superman, and intergalactic relics from Green Lantern. We look forward to seeing how well the developers inject the staple Lego humor into the larger DC Universe.
