For those of you who are eagerly awaiting to jump back into the Left 4 Dead saga with upcoming DLC 'The Sacrifice', Valve is releasing the corresponding digital comic today to calm your zombie killing cravings until the new in-game content is available in October.

The digital comic is a prequel to the previous DLC for Left 4 Dead 2, 'The Passing', and is split into four parts that each tell the back story of the original L4D1 survivors. Today you will get the first of the four comics which in the end will grow into 150 pages leading up to the events The Passing.

According to Chet Fauszek, writer for Left 4 Dead 2, the comic has a set ending detailing the death of one of the original four, however in the playable DLC you will get to choose who dies. If you haven't played the The Passing I won't spoil it for you, but if you don't care then you can check our spoiler post here to find out.

This comic seems like it will tell the whole story of The Sacrifice, showing fans of the series story elements not present in the game. I'm all for a great story in video games and tend to gather any material outside the game that compliments and enhances the in-game experience. It could be comics/manga, movies, and other digital media, if it tells a back story I'm on it. I was particularly bad when I used to play World of Warcraft, but that was another time.

Speaking of digital media, we have some shots of the cover art for each of four covers below:
