Kyurem’s Different Forms in ‘Pokemon Black 2′ and ‘White 2′ Explained

Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 Black Kyurem and White Kyurem

When news on Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 first broke, fans were surprised, not only by fact that Nintendo plans on releasing the first Pokemon sequels ever, but because the legendary Kyurem would be getting two separate forms. It’s since been confirmed that these forms can each be referred to as Black Kyurem and White Kyurem, respectively, but fans were still unaware of just how they’d go about capturing these new bad boys.

Some speculation theorized that Kyurem would fuze with the original Pokemon Black and White cover monsters Zekrom and Reshiram, but it looks as if the process is a little more “simple” than that. The latest trailer for the 15th Pokemon movie in Japan revealed a bit of information on the subject. Instead of direct fusion that combines both monsters in Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2, all Kyurem requires to change forms is a little bit of DNA.

Fortunately, that doesn’t mean the creature has to drink the blood of another Pokemon in some sort of ritualistic fashion; in fact, all Kyurem has to do is harmlessly absorb a little bit of energy from either Zekrom or Reshiram to completely alter his appearance. Presumably, the energy will come from the legendary Pokemon that N has on his team, which will vary depending on which version players have. That’s also presuming that N will return, of course, but it seems likely given the unfinished business that Pokemon Black and White left players with at the end of each game.

The movie trailer also hints at a rivalry between Kyurem and the currently unavailable legendary Pokemon Keldeo. Whether or not this feud transfers into the final version of Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 is still to be determined, but it would be an interesting way to introduce the unicorn-esque beast into the games.

Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 will be coming to the Nintendo DS this Fall, but Game Rant will bring you more news on the games as soon as it becomes available.
