Kingdom Hearts Announcement

Any gamers who reach the "Secret Movie" in the newly released Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep -- Final Mix may come to the conclusion another Kingdom Hearts game will soon be announced.

Game Rant reviewed the US edition of Birth by Sleep, and shortly after it was released, there was an announcement of a Final Mix version of the game. The announcement of a new "Secret Movie" to be included in the Final Mix version was made, as well.

With the announcement of the title for the upcoming Kingdom Hearts 3DS game, Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance (which takes place after Kingdom Hearts II and Kingdom Hearts Re:coded), fans of the Kingdom Hearts series will have a lot more substance to add the the story.

Like almost all Kingdom Hearts games, players who meet certain criteria by the end of Birth by Sleep -- Final Mix are presented with an ending that contains a "Secret Movie." That ending provides clues to another game in the Kingdom Hearts series.

Players of the original Birth by Sleep were anxious to see what more could there could be to the tale of Terra, Ventus and Aqua. Keep reading for the full breakdown of the “Secret Movie” from Birth by Sleep -- Final Mix.

SPOILER WARNING!

It probably goes without saying that there are some spoilers below, so be sure to tread carefully.

The "Secret Movie" in Birth by Sleep - Final Mix starts off with the appearance of a sleeping Sora on Destiny Islands. It is wise to note that this Sora has his attire from the first Kingdom Hearts game. In the background, Kairi is seen running towards Sora, and it appears that Sora is either dreaming or in the process of waking up when the screen fades to black and the number "1" appears.

The next scene shows Aqua walking up to Ansem the Wise in the Dark Margin. Aqua looks out to sea when the screen fades to black again, only this time, the number "0" appears. Things become intriguing after that:  the scene with Aqua in the Dark Margin begins to rewind to previous points in the game and stops where Aqua is seen in the Realm of Darkness. It is here that the screen fades to black and then the words "Zero Point" appear on the screen.

Aqua's Wayfinder is shining, and Aqua says to herself, "As long as we remain connected, I'm sure that I'll be able to return home." She begins to walk on a path through the Realm of Darkness, but stops when her Wayfinder's shimmering light begins to dim.

A strange portal of light appears in the sky that appears to either be absorbing darkness or spreading it into the realm. Aqua looks appalled at what is taking place and when she looks at Wayfinder once again, the light has completely faded. After she questions what's going on, the screen fades to black and the number "0.5" is revealed.

Aqua is then seen walking through a forest that will look familiar to players of the original Birth by Sleep. She appears to be stumbling a little, or at least walking very slowly, possibly coming from an intense battle in the Realm of Darkness. She stops in her tracks because the Castle of Dreams is engulfed in complete darkness. The Castle of Dreams, of course, is Cinderella's world, and was visited in Birth by Sleep.

The words "A fragmentary passage" appear on screen, followed by quickly shifting scenes that can easily be missed. After analyzing the "Secret Movie" a bit more, King Mickey can be seen in the Realm of Darkness, wielding his "Star Seeker" keyblade. It is common Kingdom Hearts knowledge that King Mickey acquires the "Kingdom Key D" keyblade from the Realm of Darkness, so that scene could take place where the keyblade chooses him.

Next, Riku is seen holding Kairi above the Watchtower that appears in either Twilight or Traverse Town. Donald and Goofy are confusingly wandering through Traverse Town. The next scene switches to Kairi in her Kingdom Hearts II appearance, grouped up with Hayner, Pence, and Olette in front of a mansion in Twilight Town that was visited in the second game. The group look up at the mansion, and the scene quickly switches to Sora in the sleeping pod from Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, with DiZ looking on, recording data.

A flashback from Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days is shown in which Roxas and Xion are walking together while being watched by Riku. Switching worlds again, on Destiny Islands a young Xehanort is seen looking out at sea, then slowly begining to turn around. While turning, he transforms in Ansem, Seeker of Darkness, followed by his Nobody, Xemnas, and then finally his Master Xehanort form.

Sora, from Kingdom Hearts II, is shown sitting on a Paopu tree, but a flash of light appears and he is no longer there. A very similar scene plays out next with a comatose Ventus in the Chamber of Waking. The screen fades to black one final time, only this time, the words "Birth by Sleep - Volume Two" appear.

This could all but confirm the next game in the Kingdom Hearts series, much like the Birth by Sleep "Secret Movie" in Kingdom Hearts II -- Final Mix. Perhaps after the release of Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, players will find out more about this possible sequel to Birth by Sleep.

Has the thought of another Kingdom Hearts entry in the series filled your minds with excitement and wonder? Is it possible that, now that there are so many games in the series, the story has become too convoluted to follow? Let us know with your thoughts and comments below!
