‘Killzone: Shadow Fall’ Season Pass Details: Co-op & Multiplayer Expansions

Killzone Shadow Fall Season Pass

It was only about two years ago that Sony officially threw its hat into the proverbial ‘Season Pass’ ring, but now that they have, they are going full throttle. As such, it should come as no surprise that their highly anticipated launch PS4 title Killzone: Shadow Fall will be offering its own version of the Season Pass.

Killzone is, after all, a very multiplayer-focused title, and one of the first PS4 games to test the console’s online prowess. However, just as Killzone: Shadow Fall hopes to find itself nestled in the PS4′s disc drive at launch, it also hopes to be there come January (or later) of next year.

To help facilitate that, Guerrilla Games has detailed the contents of Killzone: Shadow Fall‘s Season Pass. The Pass will set gamers back $19.99 and will give them several different multiplayer and co-op packs.

Guerilla apparently wants to be very upfront with their Season Pass offerings, so that gamers are well aware what they are paying for. Many gamers have been burned by Season Passes in the past, but with Killzone: Shadow Fall they at least know exactly what they are paying for and what Guerilla Games is working on.

See below for full details:

  • Online co-op expansion pack – Focusing on team play and intense combat, the online co-op expansion pack adds a new co-operative game mode in which you and up to three online friends must survive against impossible odds. Fight waves upon waves of enemies in four new arena maps, featuring a unique leveling system and new unlocks.
  • Three online co-op map packs – Each map pack consists of two brand-new arena maps you can play in co-op mode with your friends. Please note that these arena maps will only work with the online co-op expansion pack.
  • Two additional multiplayer expansion packs – We’ll reveal more about these additional multiplayer expansion packs when Killzone Shadow Fall’s launch date nears. Suffice to say they’ll offer many hours of additional multiplayer thrills!

Killzone Shadow Fall Multiplayer Screens - Cornered Soldier

It’s important to mention that, although the Season Pass includes two multiplayer expansion packs, those will not include multiplayer maps. As Guerrilla and Sony have previously detailed, all additional multiplayer maps for Killzone: Shadow Fall will be free. With that in mind, it’s safe to assume the expansion packs will likely include additional multiplayer modes, or even some new customization options.

The first co-op expansion pack offers a fairly straightforward wave-based horde mode for up to three players to take on at a time. And once players have had their fill of the four arena maps that launch with the co-op expansion back, there are three additional co-op packs on the way that include two maps each.

Gamers looking to increase their multiplayer options in Killzone: Shadow Fall will likely find the Season Pass an intriguing option, even if it is co-op heavy. Unfortunately, it’s unclear just how much of a value purchasing the contents whole cloth will be.

As well, gamers who pre-order the Season Pass will net themselves an exclusive OWL combat drone skin and a spotlight move. Spotlight moves are Shadow Fall‘s version of taunts, a special action that winning players can do in a post-match screen.

Will you be purchasing the Season Pass for Killzone: Shadow Fall? Which pack are you most interested in?
