Killzone 3 is only a little over a month away from its North American release and PlayStation 3 owners are obviously excited about the third part in the epic series. Sony is aiming to keep those pre-orders filled for both regular and collector’s editions of Killzone 3 on February 22nd.
Yes, Killzone 3 has finally gone gold and is, as you read this, being stamped onto Blu-Ray discs and packaged into their sleek PS3 game boxes in order to be shipped to your respective retailer. This should come as no surprise to everyone considering the game launches in just over a month, but it’s nice to see that the game won’t be pulling a Gran Turismo.
North American gamers will be able to take on the Helghast on February 22nd, but European gamers will have to wait a little bit longer. Killzone 3 will be invading all of Europe only three days after North American launch, which places the game’s release on February 25th.
Killzone 3 will ship packaged with split-screen co-op multiplayer, Move compatibility, and 3D capabilities, just to name a few features. There’s also the super awesome —and mildly expensive — Helghast edition which includes a cornucopia of of extra content in the form of bonus DLC containing a retro map pack, an action figure, hardcover art book, and your very own Helghast helmet.
There’s no doubt that the latest Killzone is one of the most anticipated games of this year, and it’s wasting no time bursting through the newly installed 2011 gates and into the hands of eager fans. With the likes of Uncharted 3, Infamous 2, Resistance 3, LittleBigPlanet 2, Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One, and of course Killzone 3, it seems to be Sony’s year, and they’ve wasted no time getting their blockbusters into the hands of their consumer-base.
Are you excited for the third Killzone? Which edition will you be picking up on launch day? There’s not much time left to decide, as Killzone 3 launches in North America on February 22, and Europe on February 25.
