Universal Pictures has officially released the first trailer for Jurassic World: Dominion, which serves as the third installment to the recent trilogy centered around the emblematic Jurassic Park franchise. This summer, the film is set to rumble into theaters, bringing back the Jurassic World cast comprised of Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, in unison with iconically beloved faces from the franchise's past.

Jurassic World: Dominion is rooted in the present day, occurring in the wake of the chaotic events four years ago in 2018's Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. The destruction of Isla Nublar has led to the arrival of the ancient creatures on the mainland, living side-by-side amongst humans in an incredibly imbalanced life cycle. The sixth installment in the Jurassic Park universe highlights the struggles faced when attempting to control genetically engineered dinosaurs, creatures driven by their animalistic instincts to survive and adapt.

In the Jurassic World: Dominion trailer, dinosaurs roam various parts of the planet, with some living harmoniously alongside humans while others cause unthinkable destruction. "Humans and dinosaurs can't coexist. We created an ecological disaster," are the words uttered by one of Jurassic World: Dominion's iconic returns. The nature of co-existing has been explored plenty throughout the iconic franchise's lifespan, but now things come full circle as the creatures enter a brand-new realm, testing humanity's overall ability to compete for domination against the world's most powerful creatures.

Jurassic World: Dominion sees the return of Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, reprising their roles from the previous two Jurassic World installments, alongside DeWanda Wise as a new addition to the chaos. However, in addition to familiarity comes nostalgia, as iconic figures from the past make a long-awaited return—the reveal of Laura Dern, Sam Neill, and Jeff Goldblum. "We're racing toward the extinction of our species. We not only lack dominion over nature, we're subordinate to it," states Goldblum in the new Jurassic World: Dominion trailer, showcasing once again what the arrival of new threats poses for the longevity of humanity.

Jurassic World: Dominion will be the first time Dern and Neill have shared the screen in the franchise since 2001's Jurassic Park 3. The film will also be the first time Goldblum has reunited with the duo since their collective appearance in the 1993 original Jurassic Park. It's unclear what role they will play in this new adventure, but they have the experience to lend a helping hand.

Jurassic World: Dominion comes from director Colin Trevorrow, who co-wrote the film alongside Emily Carmichael. There was speculation that the trailer would arrive during Super Bowl Sunday, but Universal Pictures looks to have wanted to provide an early treat for admirers of the franchise. This installment seems to be the end of this current Jurassic Park trilogy, further building anticipation for how things will ultimately play themselves out in the future.

Jurassic World: Dominion will stampede into theaters on June 10, 2022.
