Universal Pictures has released a brand-new trailer for Jurassic World Dominion, providing more details on the long-awaited Jurassic Park sequel. In addition to providing more details on how Baby Blue factors into the story, the preview also gives the terrifying gigantosaurus the spotlight.

Directed by Colin Trevorrow from a script he co-wrote with Emily Carmichael and a story he developed with Derek Connolly, Jurassic World Dominion is being touted as the conclusion to the nearly three-decades-old Jurassic Park franchise. As part of the final chapter in the current Jurassic era, franchise veterans Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum are returning for Dominion, marking the first time all three have appeared together as their respective characters since the first film in 1993.

While fans already knew that the cast of the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World franchises would cross paths in Dominion, the circumstances behind their meeting were unknown. Now, Universal's new Jurassic World Dominion trailer offers some more insight into the story by opening with a reunion between Chris Pratt's Owen Grady and his Velociraptor companion Blue, who has had a baby since she escaped into the wilderness of the mainland. However, the infant whom fans have dubbed "Baby Blue" is abducted by unknown individuals, prompting Owen to promise Blue that he'll bring back her child. What follows is a series of action shots featuring dinosaurs on the mainland, some of which mind their own business in the wild while others terrorize citizens.

Goldblum's Ian Malcolm, reunited with Dr. Alan Grant and Dr. Ellie Sattler, warns his friends that the "Doomsday Clock" might be out of time, though precise details on what prompts this reunification remain unclear. The new Jurassic World Dominion trailer concludes with Owen Grady, Bryce Dallas Howard's Claire Dearing, and Isabella Sermon's Maisie Lockwood colliding with the aforementioned trio of Jurassic Park icons. Of course, this meeting is interrupted by the gigantosaurus, a deadly new dinosaur making its Jurassic franchise debut, which Grant describes as the "biggest carnivore the world has ever seen."

Needless to say, the new Jurassic World Dominion trailer provides all the dinosaur action fans could ever want. However, the return of Neill, Dern, and Goldblum may be the most exciting aspect of this film, especially to those who feel the latest Jurassic Park sequels fail to live up to the original.

Regardless of how critics feel, the Jurassic Park sequels have all proven to be successful at the box office. Of course, the world is still in the midst of a real crisis with COVID-19 still raging, so time will tell if audiences are still willing to head to theaters for the dinosaur spectacle.

Jurassic World Dominion is scheduled to be released in theaters on June 10, 2022.
