If there is one developer that is king of episodic content, it’s TellTale Games. The game company has produced a series of terrific games including Wallace & Gromit, Monkey Island, Sam & Max, and Strong Bad’s Cool Game For Attractive People.
Apparently NBC Universal thinks so too – as the entertainment company has reached a deal with TellTale to create a series of episodic Jurassic Park adventures.
According to Game Informer magazine, not only has NBC Universal and TellTale struck a deal on Jurassic Park, but we can also expect some other properties as well. Jurassic Park will allegedly make up one “season” – likely around six “episodes”.
TellTale CEO, Dan Connors, describes the game as “the ultimate cinematic adventure..
“For Jurassic Park, we will leverage Telltale’s expertise in storytelling and game design to deliver on the tension and drama of the series creating the ultimate cinematic adventure.”
The title of “ultimate cinematic adventure” is comfortably in the hands of Heavy Rain at the moment (at least, according to our review), but it should be quite the championship bout if Mr. Connors is telling the truth.
A Jurassic Park game sounds pretty decent in theory and I certainly have faith in TellTale, but Jurassic Park games have been pretty hit-or-miss in the past (with a greater emphasis on miss). A Dino Crisis-esque title would be pretty awesome, but I don’t know if my fragile-eggshell mind could handle that kind of terror!
It’s unknown what consoles we’ll be seeing the game on, but the first episode is scheduled to land later this year – and while we have no screenshots or release info it’s a safe bet that we will find more at next week’s E3.
What genre are you hoping TellTale’s Jurassic Park game will fall in to? Survival/Horror? Action/Adventure?
