Remember Joy Ride? Revealed at E3 2009, Microsoft’s Avatar-based kart racer for Xbox LIVE Arcade was originally announced as a free to play title.
That was then, and this is now.
A “senior retail source” close to CVG claims that Joy Ride has been repurposed as a launch title for Microsofts’s Natal, noting that the game is “definitely for Natal and will definitely be here for launch.”
On the up side, the source reports that Joy Ride is now a much “bigger, richer game than before,” and that playing the game is “very intuitive.” On the down side, the source points out that the game “will no longer be free to play,” and may “be a boxed release.”
So, a racing game on Natal. Though I don’t remember reactions to Natal’s Burnout Paradise demo as being particularly positive, I can’t help but be curious about playing a motion controlled racing game.
Ranters, is this the kind of experience you want from Natal? Will those of you planning to buy Natal at launch be bringing home Joy Ride, too?

A boxed release probably means I heftier price. I would have guessed if it was made for Natal, it might be bundled with the product a la Wii Sports.
