It has already been a few weeks since The Suicide Squad arrived in theaters and on HBO Max, and fans have been raving about it ever since. Recently, director James Gunn and the cast of the film were a part of a virtual watch party event and Gunn revealed some interesting tidbits about Easter eggs, deleted scenes, and how the entire project came together.

For the entirety of the over two-hour runtime of The Suicide Squad, Gunn answered fan questions on Twitter. The story of the film doesn’t end here, as Peacemaker will premiere on HBO Max next year, taking the story of the character portrayed by John Cena forward. However, Gunn has confirmed that a surprise character might be making an appearance in the show, and fans assume it will be T.D.K, the character Gunn revealed is among the people who did not die in The Suicide Squad.

One of the most talked-about scenes from the film was when Harley Quinn is imprisoned in Corto Maltese and decides to slip out. She brutally slaughters all the soldiers present, with the scene beautifully shot and later edited to include a dazzling floral display. Gunn revealed that the original plan was to include Ultra-Bunny, the cartoon from Rick Flag’s shirt in the film, into the scene along with all the flowers and birds. However, “it was a bit too busy,” and was later removed.

It was revealed early on in production that Gunn had been given the liberty by the studio to call all the shots, including potentially killing any member of The Suicide Squad. He was clearly completely in charge since him stepping away for even a day meant that production would be shut down. In one of his tweets, Gunn revealed that he had to fly from Panama to Atlanta suddenly when he had found out that his 16-year-old dog was dying, which led to a pause in filming.

With such a large star cast, it was expected that some scenes would have been removed from the film due to time constraints. Gunn confirmed a deleted scene that included Polka-Dot Man and the Thinker. One fan asked why the Thinker had a bandage on his ear throughout the film and that’s when Gunn revealed that the deleted scene, which will be available on the Blu-ray of The Suicide Squad, will show the Thinker trying to manipulate Polka-Dot Man. Unfortunately for him, his manipulation doesn’t work and Polka-Dot Man instead “shoots him in the ear.”

A lot of other information was also revealed by Gunn that can be found on his official Twitter account. Hopefully, this won't be the final word Gunn has on the much-discussed The Suicide Squad.

The Suicide Squad is showing in theaters and streaming on HBO Max.
