One thing fans of Apple can count on is that the company will always have new gadgets for their fans to purchase every year. Whether that's a new iteration of the iPod, the iPad, or something completely different, Apple is constantly churning out new products to meet the demands of their rabid fanbase.

During a press conference today, Apple revealed a number of new products for fans to be excited for, including new gaming focused TV sets, but perhaps the biggest news is the announcement of brand new iPhone mobile devices. Apple fanatics should get their wallets ready, because two new iPhones are set to release very soon.

As announced today during their press conference, beefed up versions of the iPhone 6 are on the way in the form of the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. The former will feature a 4.7-inch retina display and will retail for $199, whereas the latter will have a 5.5-inch retina display and cost $299. The brand new iPhones will release September 25th, but they will probably sell like hotcakes, so those that want to be guaranteed a new iPhone should probably pre-order. Pre-orders, by the way, will begin in just a few days on September 12th.

The iPhone 6S and 6S Plus will come in four different metallic colors, including gold, rose gold, silver, and space grey. The devices are more powerful versions of the previous models, and will be able to perform many tasks faster. A specific example given during the press conference was that the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus will be able to scan fingerprints for identification purposes twice as fast as the phones that came before.

That's all fine and good, but there are two features in particular that are the major selling points for these new iPhones. The first is 4K video recording, something that hasn't been possible on any previous versions of the iPhone. This will allow iPhone users to record videos and take pictures in higher quality than ever before, which should be very enticing for those that find themselves often using their phone in lieu of an actual camera.

The other major feature coming with the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus is something called 3D Touch. 3D Touch refers to new gestures that will allow users to more easily access the most commonly used functions on their phones using context menus. This combined with 4K video recording quality help make the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus significant upgrades from the 6 and 6 Plus.

The announcement of the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus really comes as no surprise, and these new features seem like good reason for existing users to upgrade. The original versions of the phone, the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, managed to sell 10 million units in just three days, so it makes sense for Apple to re-release the phone with additional functionality.

It will be interesting to see if the 6S and 6S Plus can surpass the sales of the impressive sales of the vanilla 6 and 6 Plus. With pre-orders opening in just a few days, it will also be interesting to see if the 6S and 6S Plus can surpass the 4 million units pre-ordered that the 6 and 6 Plus managed to accrue in a mere 24 hours last year.

The iPhone 6S and 6S Plus devices will be available September 25th, with the 6S retailing for $199 and the 6S Plus for $299. Pre-orders for the devices open on September 12th.
