Although some were disappointed that the iPhone 5 wasn’t released this year, reports now claim that the phone will be here next year — which isn’t really a surprise. Along with the iPhone 5, consumers may see a complete overhaul of other Apple products such as updates to two new iPads, the iMac, and the MacBook Air.
The iPhone 4S released only a few weeks ago, and has since broke numerous records. Still, it is no surprise that rumors of an iPhone 5 have been been rolling out so quickly, particularly after it was announced that Steve Jobs had a hand in the iPhone 5’s design before his untimely passing.
According to disclosed “sources in the upstream supply chain,” there are claims that Apple is planning to order enough essential key components by the end of 2011 to produce two million iPad units by the start of the new year. The finalization of this order is looking to come to a close as soon as possible, in order to reach this deadline.
This kind of production order is indeed a positive outlook for those who love the iPad 2 and hope to upgrade in the near future. But with the popularity of the iPhone 4S, the iPad may follow the pattern of Apple phones and come out with an iPad 2S rather than the iPad 3 this early. Even so, this upgrade is expected to be thinner than the iPad 2 and also house a better battery life.
Anyone hoping for a more thorough overhaul also have reason to be optimistic, as DigiTimes also states that, in addition to the spring iPad update, a full iPad 3 will release late in the third quarter of 2012. Manufacturers have been asked to “develop flat panel modules and LED light bars for two iPad prototypes, codenamed J1 and J2.”
Along with that good news, more reports from DigiTimes also state that the iPhone 5 and a new iMac should be announced in the second half of next year, but there are no specifications as to what may be updated from the current models.
What would you be looking for in upgraded Apple products? What would you like to see in the iPhone 5? What would you like to see with a new iPad?
