Catwoman Dazzles in New ‘Injustice: Gods Among Us’ Trailer

Aug 13, 2012 by

Though we knew that Injustice: Gods Among Us, the new brawler from Mortal Kombat developer NetherRealm, would feature a wide range of characters from the DC Comics universe, there’s still some curiosity as to just which characters those might be. So far we’ve ticked off the likes of Superman, Batman, Nightwing, and Cyborg from the list of must-have characters for Injustice, and just revealed at this year’s Gamescom is yet another fan favorite: Catwoman.

Ed Boon, the face and sometimes even the name of NetherRealm Studios, took to Twitter to reveal the big news, along with the trailer featured above. The trailer gives a detailed look at Catwoman’s costume in the game, as well as brief flashes of her various attacks.

Like Superman and Batman’s more militarized get-up, Catwoman is sporting a more contemporary look – one that adapts some of her more traditional iterations’ key features. It’s not exactly the Catwoman featured in Batman: Arkham City (this one’s much more tasteful), but its drawn from a similar cloth.

As far as Catwoman’s moves are concerned, she appears to be just as brutal a brawler as any of the other combatants in Injustice. Of course she brandishes her traditional set of gadgets – razor sharp claws and a whip – along with a few more handy pieces of weaponry.

In terms of the flow of combat and the fluidity of animations, this trailer greatly emphasizes the connections between this game and NetherRealm’s recent reboot of the Mortal Kombat franchise. Catwoman’s ability to string together a wealth of attacks – be they melee or weapon-based – showcases a balletic attention to detail that only NetherRealm is capable of.

Now that we’ve seen Catwoman it’s a natural inclination to ask who’s next, and if past reveals like the one at Comic-Con are any indication, we might be seeing yet another character revealed before Gamescom closes its doors for 2012.

Who would you like to see join Catwoman and the other villains and heroes of DC Comics? And what do you think of Catwoman as a fighter in Injustice?

Injustice: Gods Among Us is targeting a 2013 release for the PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U.

  1. Not digging the voice, and as far as design goes, this is the worst reveal yet.

Here’s to hoping for Plastic Man and Krypto.

  2. Looks like she can run with the boys. Don’t like her outfit, though. I liked the Arkham City Catwoman. :P

  3. Catwoman looks epic! I’m going to have so much fun playing as her. The only thing i’m not a fan of is that her costume isn’t sexy enough. I’m really hoping Green Lantern and Aquaman make the game; they are too sexy. And i’m also really hoping for Starfire and Raven!

    • Kinda weird that, as a male, you called two other males sexy. o.O

      • I caught that too lol both ways?

      • Hey now, I’m a straight male and I will totally say that other males are sexy. But only if they really deserve it. Like Tom Hardy lol

        • But the word “sexy”? I’m a straight male also, I’d use “good-looking” or “decent” based on what I see women are typically into or a well groomed guy. I would never call another man sexy or cute. Also, tone and context come into play. When we’re talking about comic book characters for a fighting game, I don’t think a straight guys want to say “sexy”. I mean, if he’s not straight that’s his business, I’m just saying…

    • Ok that comment was just weird. o_O

      • Oh no. We might have a bi-sexual among us. Everyone freak out.

        • It’s just weird. I guess we all have the assumption that everyone here is straight, so when an assumed heterosexual man calls male superheroes sexy, it’s unexpected and odd.

  4. despite using alot of the assets from mk9 to make this game (sound and animation), i have faith that this will be a major hit amongst both casual and hardcore (evo) gamers. they seem to have put a lot of effort in designing the characters and dont want to give dc fans the short stick this time so good for them :)

  5. I agree with the costume but you have to keep in mind the tone of the game, and honestly its not about looking sexy its about being able to fight i’m glad they made the characters more than eye candy

    • That’s true… it does seem like much more of a “battle suit.” Still, Catwoman has always been a highly sexual character… but I’ll bite.

  6. Well personally I like the Arkham suit better and the voice is just okay whoever voiced her in Arkham was sexier but her gameplay looks awesome!!! Can’t wait for this game.
I hope green lantern makes the cut as well he would be epic to play as.
