Sinestro & Hawkgirl Join the ‘Injustice: Gods Among Us’ Roster in New Gameplay Video

Published 1 year ago by

Another week and another round of the Injustice: Gods Among Us Battle Area competition from DC and NetherRealm Studios.

While previous weeks of the Injustice: Gods Among Us promotional tournament included characters who were officially revealed or leaked in one form or another (most notably Aquaman and Shazam), this week’s was a little extra special as two brand new fighters have been confirmed to be playable characters in the upcoming DC fighting title – Sinestro and Hawkgirl.

With very few open spots left on the rumored twenty-four member sized roster. Fans are becoming impatient about who has made the cut and who could show up down the line as DLC. Heroes and villains alike are slowly being revealed and two more have joined the fray and the recent pair of reveals should be a pleasant surprise for fans.

Sure to be an antagonizing force in the story, the head of the Yellow Lantern Core, Thaal Sinestro will be a playable combatant. A former Green Lantern, and mentor to fellow fighter Hal Jordan, who is now head of his own Yellow Lantern core – powered by raw fear. While many less-informed fans might wonder how the power of fear will work in a video game, many also fear that Sinestro gameplay could rely heavily on cloned Green Lantern moves. Of course, NetherRealm is no stranger to making characters with similar looks and abilities, play completely different (Sub-Zero and Cyber Sub-Zero in Mortal Kombat 9 for example).

Also revealed today is the female warrior Hawkgirl, Shiera Hall. Of course, the the reveal shouldn’t come as a total surprise to observant fans – given that you briefly see the character’s wings in the the Injustice: Gods Among Us story trailer (flying past Lex Luthor). It was only a matter of time before fans got the bird of prey warrior they desired. Some fans might wonder why Hawkgirl, instead of more popular Hawkman was chosen for the game but, it was likely a choice to help give female combatant numbers a boost.

Gamers who have payed extra close attention to this title, watching every video and reading every article, probably have some idea of what other characters could make an appearance in the game – Doomsday is shown on the Injustice: Gods Among Us Battle Edition fight stick. 1. great to see but them we gotta wait till friday to see some proper gameplay. really shocked to see sinestro, i didnt think they would use him but im glad they did. good to see hawkgirl too, get those female reps XD.

apparently there are 4 other confirmed characters that were revealed to press but i cant remember what they are called. i think it was doomsday, black adam, i think the other was raven and i cant remeber the last.

  2. as for the winners, quite hard.

superman and sinestro can be a hard one to factor since superman i weak against magic but going by the injusice comic superman punches the sphere he was trapped in and took of GL’s ring. cant see why he cant do that here. Superman.

Hawkgirl and Green Arrow… well no doubt at close range Hawkgirl has this but further away green arrow may get a good shot but i think hawkgirl will only win cause of her flying. its easier to dodge the arrows if she flies and GA has to run out some time huh.

  3. Any fan of the Justice League cartoon knows why Shiera beat out Carter. Still have my fingers crossed for everyone’s favorite martian, J’onn J’onzz…

  4. from all the stories this game seems to be taking ques off of(dark knight returns/rides again, red son, DCU online) i thought the boss might be Brainiac, until i read doomsday. Neather realm loves their hulking giant bosses…

  5. Very cool. But I would have prefered Atrocitus over Sinestro any day. I would of also prefered Hawkman over Hawkgirl as well but at least we got one thanagarian in the game. I still want Martian Manhunter, Lobo and Blue Beetle. Or Black Manta. Black Mantas awesome, like a underwater Boba Fett of sorts.

  6. Yellow Lantern *Corps*

    - I apologize for being that guy, but it has to be done.

    • well… if you wanna go there its really sinestro corps.

  7. I honestly think Dr Fate should get a spot. Magic is a in canon weakness for superman yet none of the supernatural DC hero stable are here unless you count shazam,do I expect him? No but honestly they are being werid, no zatara,no fate, no swamp thing, no manhunter and none of the vertigo line up. These may be dlc but you would think That one magical hero character woud make the release roster before the yellow lantern Sinestro with young justice going strong with fans and green lantern flopping in most adaptations lately.

  8. I want these guys to make Marvel Vs D.C Universe 24 characters on each side and Two different endings
