Another week and another round of the Injustice: Gods Among Us Battle Area competition from DC and NetherRealm Studios.

While previous weeks of the Injustice: Gods Among Us promotional tournament included characters who were officially revealed or leaked in one form or another (most notably Aquaman and Shazam), this week's was a little extra special as two brand new fighters have been confirmed to be playable characters in the upcoming DC fighting title - Sinestro and Hawkgirl.

With very few open spots left on the rumored twenty-four member sized roster. Fans are becoming impatient about who has made the cut and who could show up down the line as DLC. Heroes and villains alike are slowly being revealed and two more have joined the fray and the recent pair of reveals should be a pleasant surprise for fans.

Sure to be an antagonizing force in the story, the head of the Yellow Lantern Core, Thaal Sinestro will be a playable combatant. A former Green Lantern, and mentor to fellow fighter Hal Jordan, who is now head of his own Yellow Lantern core - powered by raw fear. While many less-informed fans might wonder how the power of fear will work in a video game, many also fear that Sinestro gameplay could rely heavily on cloned Green Lantern moves. Of course, NetherRealm is no stranger to making characters with similar looks and abilities, play completely different (Sub-Zero and Cyber Sub-Zero in Mortal Kombat 9 for example).

Also revealed today is the female warrior Hawkgirl, Shiera Hall. Of course, the the reveal shouldn't come as a total surprise to observant fans - given that you briefly see the character's wings in the the Injustice: Gods Among Us story trailer (flying past Lex Luthor). It was only a matter of time before fans got the bird of prey warrior they desired. Some fans might wonder why Hawkgirl, instead of more popular Hawkman was chosen for the game but, it was likely a choice to help give female combatant numbers a boost.

Gamers who have payed extra close attention to this title, watching every video and reading every article, probably have some idea of what other characters could make an appearance in the game - Doomsday is shown on the Injustice: Gods Among Us Battle Edition fight stick.
