Infinity Blade 3 Rumor

Although Infinity Blade Dungeons has officially been cancelled, that doesn't mean Epic Games and subsidiary ChAIR Entertainment are done with their wildly popular mobile franchise. In fact, if a recent resume posting by a ChAIR employee is to be believed, we might be looking at the release of Infinity Blade 3 some time soon.

Michael Lochrane, a QA tester for ChAIR Entertainment, put up the resume posting in question, and mentioned his current project as "Infinity Blade 3 for the iPhone." As of this writing, we hadn't heard anything about Infinity Blade 3 from either Epic or Chair.

ChAIR Co-Founder Donald Mustard did, however, say that his development outfit has more Infinity Blade content prepared. That included "more games, more books, and maybe even other products." So, it makes sense that ChAIR would be hard at work on Infinity Blade 3.

As far as when Infinity Blade 3 might be announced, CVG points out that Epic Games usually announces new mobile games in connection with a major Apple product reveal. Infinity Blade Dungeons, for example, was announced at the same as the iPad 3, or "the new iPad."

So, with that in mind, one might guess that Epic Games is preparing to announce Infinity Blade 3 alongside the next iPhone (either the iPhone 5s or the iPhone 6) or the next iteration of the iPad. Rumors have been circulating for months concerning both new Apple devices, but as most know Apple is very secretive when it comes to product reveals. They let the fans speculate about specs — bigger screen, faster processor, better battery life — but avoid comment whenever possible.

As far as Epic Games is concerned, they are a bit of a wild card right now. At one point they were a dominant force in the games industry, but now they have fallen out of the limelight considerably over the past year. Epic just reacquired 40% of its equity Tencent, which will presumably give them more creative control over games-related endeavors in the future.

And with both Cliff Bleszinski and Mike Capps departing the company, many called into question where the company might head in the future. Would they pull out of game development and focus all of their efforts on fine-tuning the Unreal Engine?

Well, as it turns out, Epic Games still wants to make games — they even have an unannounced "triple-A shooter" in development — and they want those developers that exist under their banner to do so as well. It may not be a console release, but Infinity Blade 3 will presumably be the first title released by this revitalized version of Epic Games.

Are you ready for more Infinity Blade? How would you like to see Chair Entertainment improve their popular mobile title?
