inFamous Second Son Launch

Last month's PlayStation 4 reveal introduced the world to inFAMOUS: Second Son, and since then gamers have been clamoring for more information about the game. Aside of a anti-oppression themed cinematic trailer, developer Sucker Punch Productions has remained completely tight-lipped on the their latest work, but news regarding inFAMOUS: Second Son has still managed to trickle out from a completely unintentional source.

Despite Sucker Punch's best efforts to keep out of the news, investigative gamers have discovered that longtime inFAMOUS programmer Nathan Reed not only lists Second Son on his resume, but states that the game is slated as a PS4 launch title later this year. The game previously had no release date and, provided his resume was accurate, will be the first time Sucker Punch Studios has developed a launch title.

Second Son is set in Seattle, where a controlling police presence is watching every move (think George Orwell's 1984). A new protagonist, a beanie-clad male, decides to fight back against this regime and remind their would-be controllers that they are 'not in control'. Though the protagonist doesn't have a name yet, Sucker Punch is likely primed to have a more revealing trailer waiting on the bench - especially if it really is coming out later this year.

Nathan's resume has since been amended, but forward-thinking fans had already snagged a screen grab as proof:

inFAMOUS Second Son Launch Title

This isn't the first time a developer's portfolio has leaked information about games; something that often happens before they're even announced. This was the case for titles like Dead Rising 3, Black Ops 2, Bad Company 3 and Mirror's Edge 2. Obviously, the people who have worked for years on each title need to advertise their work for prospective employers, leading to leaks such as Reed's. Thankfully, it appears that studios are relatively understanding when these things happen — although that's not to say there aren't grounds for repercussions after breaking embargo.

With inFAMOUS 2 only having been available to the masses for 2 years ago, Sucker Punch must have been incredibly busy preparing for the upcoming PlayStation 4. With a now-anticipated release date of late 2013, gamers should expect a flurry of news to be released ahead of the title.

It's more than likely that E3 2013 will contain some worthwhile news pertaining to Second Son, so stay tuned to Game Rant for more information on the alleged PS4 launch title as soon as it becomes available.
