inFamous 2 Gamescon 2010 Trailer

Gamescom 2010 is in full effect and along with the plethora of announcements we bring you the new trailer for Sucker Punch’s inFAMOUS 2. The trailer is set to the ‘House of the Rising Sun’ by The Animals and it takes us on a tour of Empire City in various states of chaos, ending with Cole doing his Tesla thang and bringing the house down.

Check the trailer below:

Much hasn’t changed from earlier footage of the game, however one thing you will notice in the trailer is that Cole is now sporting his buzz cut from the first game. This is a departure from earlier gameplay footage we’ve showed you depicting Cole with longer hair. This was a move from Sucker Punch to appease the fans who weren’t in love with the new “Nathan Drake” inspired look.

I personally didn’t have a problem with Cole’s new design, in fact I always welcome change as long as it doesn’t break gameplay. Apparently some did have a problem and applauded Sucker Punch in the comments of the PlayStation blog post. Other than Cole’s return to his roots, there didn’t seem to be any new info to gather from this trailer. There was the scene showing one of the game’s enemy factions fighting what could be a giant creature, possibly a new enemy type. There’s a lot of smoke and debris masking the target which could be just a helicopter, but judging by the number of rockets being fired, it seems like something much more menacing.

Ranters, do you prefer Cole shaved, with hair, or better yet an electrified mo-hawk? Are you anxiously waiting the day you can get your hands on this electrifying title?

Along with Uncharted 2, inFamous was one of those must have exclusives for PS3 and inFamous 2 is shaping up to be another day-one purchase when it releases in 2011.

Buzz cut is the way to go, I like it way better.

  • Matt Bowman

I would definetly want to see an electrofied mo-hawk. I just wonder how far out this game is. They don’t seem to be showing much except this one area of the town.

  • Phillipe Bosher

I love the song, dislike the look. Great trailer though, nice work Sucker Punch.

  • Jeff Silvey

It’s not just the character design that’s different. Didn’t the earlier trailer have a different voice actor as well? I thought it was a new character. Change the design all you want, but why even keep it as the same character then? Just make it that in this world, for some reason, now we’re following another guy who got these powers. It’s a bit of a stretch, I know, but so is changing the character’s look and voice midstream.

    • Dwayne Holder

It could be another reason why they went back to the original look. The new voice and look of Cole in the original trailer could’ve confused a lot of people.

  • Andrew Dyce

Yeah confused is the right word. I had expected a straight sequel, and then E3 hits, and it seemed like a new, completely unexplained game. I’m glad to see they’re headed back to the roots, but i’m still baffled that Suckerpunch thought anyone would be happy with the changes they made.

Personally I’m among the group that hated the changes. It didn’t seem like the same character and just looked awful, but regardless of how you feel about either look you have to respect the hell out of a studio that receives complaints and changes things to go along with what the fans want. Things like that are few and far between these days.

What this game needs is variety, in gameplaynand aesthetic

Did you play the first game rob ? It was an awesome game it didn’t need hardly any thing.

  • Chris

It would be nice if in the karma system we would see cole revert from “Nathan Drake” soundalike and bring back the gritty, sarcastic cole’s voice from the first game
