While Nintendo fans don't have a new console to look forward to this holiday season like Xbox and PlayStation fans do, that doesn't mean there isn't anything to look forward to. Switch players are anticipating the sequel to 2014's Hyrule WarriorsHyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, on November 20. And in an effort to fan the flames of excitement for its fans, Nintendo released a new trailer for the title during its October Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase.

Following the trailer during the Direct, Nintendo surprised Hyrule Warriors with a special treat: a special demo for Age of Calamity. This demo covers the entirety of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity's first chapter, and will allow players to carry over their progress into the full game when it release on November 20. However, this demo may have done Nintendo more harm than good, as Switch players believe that they may have been able to datamine the list of playable characters.

While the explicit names of the characters weren't found within the data files, there were, however, a series of icons that seem to identify 18 playable characters in Age of Calamity. Unlike the original Hyrule WarriorsAge of Calamity seems to feature a roster entirely of characters that were in Breath of the Wild. This makes sense, as it was previously announced that Age of Calamity will serve as a prequel to the events of Breath of the Wild. Below readers will find a list of the characters included from the rumored datamine:

POTENTIAL SPOILER WARNING

  • Link
  • Zelda
  • Impa
  • Urbosa
  • Mipha
  • Revali
  • Daruk
  • King Rhoam
  • Hestu
  • Riju
  • Sidon
  • Teba
  • Yunobo
  • Great Fairy
  • Master Kohga
  • Monk
  • Mini Guardian
  • Ganon

This list of characters makes sense if it turns out to be true. During the lead up to Age of Calamity's release, Nintendo and Koei Tecmo have shown off many screenshots of various Breath of the Wild characters that make an appearance in the game. And with certain characters like Hestu and his Korok buddies having been previously revealed in an earlier trailer, it doesn't seem like a far stretch to assume that he might be a playable character and that this is list could be legitimate.

While its currently unknown if this is, in fact, the actual playable list of characters for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, players do know of a few playable entities. During the Nintendo Direct trailer, players were pleasantly surprised to see that they would be able to play as The Divine Beasts. The Divine Beasts played an incredibly important role in Breath of the Wild as the game's more long form dungeons and eventual weapons that could be used against Calamity Ganon. This time around, though, players will have a more active role by wielding the Beasts to defeat scores upon scores of enemies.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity releases on November 20, 2020, exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
