After the initial Hogwarts Legacy trailer drummed up significant excitement for the open world action-RPG, fans had to wait years before getting their first look at actual gameplay. The Hogwarts Legacy gameplay reveal gave fans a deep dive into the highly anticipated game, showing off all kinds of different features that they can look forward to come launch later this year. It's unclear when exactly fans will get to see the game next, and so they've taken to picking apart the gameplay reveal for more clues about what Hogwarts Legacy has in store.

Reddit user TheEasyTarget is one such eagle-eyed Hogwarts Legacy fan that has noticed interesting details in the gameplay reveal. They pointed out a monument in the Hogwarts Legacy gameplay reveal built in honor of someone named Wildsmith with a green flame in front of it. TheEasyTarget theorizes that this monument, and others like it that may be dotted around Hogwarts, could very well serve as the game's fast-travel points.

For those who may not be up-to-date on their Harry Potter lore, Ignatia Wildsmith was the inventor of Floo Powder, which is a magical substance that wizards and witches throw into fire in order to travel across the Floo Network. This is basically fast-traveling in the Harry Potter universe, with Floo Powder and the Floo Network used by various characters throughout the series to quickly get from point A to point B. Considering this, the theory that this Wildsmith monument is a fast-travel point checks out, and it wouldn't be surprising at all to learn that it is correct.

Some fans may think that apparition would make more sense for Hogwarts Legacy fast-travel, but there's a lore reason why it doesn't. For the uninitiated, apparition basically lets witches and wizards teleport, but it's impossible to apparate while on Hogwarts grounds - unless one is Albus Dumbledore, that is. The Floo Network has some restrictions at Hogwarts as well in that students aren't able to use it to leave or enter the school, but they should be able to use it to get around to different places on school grounds. And since players would only be able to utilize the Floo Network in fixed locations, it makes a lot more sense to be used as the Hogwarts Legacy fast-travel system.

Of course, it's entirely possible that fans are looking a little too much into it and there will be other modes of fast-traveling in the game. As it stands, there have been no official details about exactly how fast-traveling will work in Hogwarts Legacy. It has been confirmed that Hogwarts Legacy has broom riding and will let players travel by flying through the air, but a proper fast-travel system has yet to be detailed.

More information should come to light as we get closer to the Hogwarts Legacy release date later this year.

Hogwarts Legacy will launch in holiday 2022 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
