Between his work as a producer, director and writer, it's difficult to tell what exactly is a Hideo Kojima game and what's just a project he's helping get off the ground. Over the past two days Kojima has dropped some information on two projects on either side of this division; Kojima talks about starting meetings on what's officially his next "HIDEO KOJIMA" game, and also about a game he continues to distance himself from, Metal Gear Solid: Rising.

As per his newest and still unnamed project, here is what Kojima had to say via his translated Twitter account:

"Had our first meeting for the next "A HIDEO KOJIMA GAME" with the core team members today. Some member are also participating on "RISING" so 10 people total this time. We will have a meeting every morning to discuss planning, testing, research, and scouting. An open environment to talk about important issues and share our dreams and concept for the project."

Impressive how Kojima is able to both tease the idea of a new game and dismiss Rising as a non-Hideo-Kojima game in a single Twitter message, isn't it? While Kojima is listed only as a producer on Rising, here are some other games he's listed only as a producer on: Zone of the Enders 1 & 2; Castlevania: Lords of Shadow; and Metal Gear Online. Kojima talks often about how he loves his work in Zone of the Enders, marketed Castlevania a ton, and never dismissed Metal Gear Online despite it being such a terrible creation. What exactly is going wrong with Rising?

It's good to see Kojima getting back into the thick of things with a new project though. Perhaps his mention of Rising was only to allude to this perhaps being a Metal Gear production? Okay, that's a bit of a stretch, but it's not like Kojima writes/directs any other franchises right now.

Kojima also had this to say in regards to his new project, also via Twitter:

"For my next project, I’m going to mention to the staff to throw out the old ways of production. Do not create pretty images, create a beautiful world."

Well, that's probably a good thing. If only he'd extrapolate on how his previous games might be lacking in this department, it might make more sense.

What are your thoughts, Ranters? Are you excited to see what Kojima is working on next? Do you think it's related to Metal Gear or something different? What do you make of his actions regarding Metal Gear Solid: Rising? Will he ever make a Zone of the Enders 3? The world may never know.
