On May 29th, players who have long since restored order to Arkham City will have a brand new reason to patrol the streets. That's the day Harley Quinn's Revenge will become available for download, and the Batman: Arkham City Game of the Year Edition -- which includes every bit of Arkham City's DLC, up to and including Revenge -- hits retailers. A new trailer (above) shows off just what Harley has in store for those brave enough to take her on.
Mere weeks later, Batman and a whole slew of his Super Hero pals return to fight crime and right injustices once again -- though, in a vastly more kid-friendly fashion. LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes arrives June 19th, and though it may lack the gritty realism of Arkham City, the developers at Traveller's Tales couldn't help but pay their respects to Rocksteady's masterpiece with a few choice renders of characters from DC Super Heroes.
A hero's work is never done. Harley Quinn's Revenge finds our girl Harley taking charge of Arkham City's villainy, and putting a stop to her psychotic plot is going to take the best efforts of both Batman and Robin. Billed as the Dynamic Duo's "final challenge," Revenge is presumably the last bit of DLC for Batman: Arkham City, leaving players to ponder what's next for the developers at Rocksteady Studios (at least until E3 2012 begins one week later).
Promising roughly two hours of content, Harley Quinn's Revenge will set players back $9.99 on PlayStation Network and 800 MS Points on the Xbox Marketplace. The Batman: Arkham City Game of the Year Edition, meanwhile, carries an MSRP of $49.99 on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
At another Bat-time on a much, much different Bat-channel, Warner Bros. Interactive and Traveller's Tales are gearing up to release a sequel to the best selling LEGO game of all time. LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes expands on the first games in a couple on a couple of fronts. First, the inclusion of a wide range playable heroes like Superman and Wonder Woman, each with their signature abilities, promises to make DC Super Heroes a more varied game than its predecessor. Second, the addition of real, intelligible voices (including everybody's favorite Joker, Mark Hamill) should open up a number storytelling possibilities. Let's hope the series' trademark goofball humor survives intact (somehow, I expect it will).
The LEGO games are nothing if not irreverent, and nearly any target is fair game -- including other Warner Bros. Interactive titles. The monstrous success of Batman: Arkham City made the game an obvious choice for parody, and the developers at Traveller's Tales simply couldn't pass up the opportunity to poke a little fun. Take a look at LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes' Robin, Catwoman and Joker. Remind you of anything?
