In an interview with Edge Magazine, executive producer of Halo: Reach Joseph Tung stated that Reach should not be considered Halo 4, but should be seen as its own game.
“It’s not a continuation of the Master Chief story, nor is it the start of a new trilogy. For us, it’s a completely standalone game,”
So for those of you hoping for a Master Chief origins game, you are out of luck. I know I would love to see what Master Chief was up to pre-Halo, but it looks as though that may never happen.
During the interview, Bungie’s Chris Opdahl commented on the graphics, which has been a weak area in the last two Halo titles.
“We are definitely bending the Xbox as far as it’ll bend.”
Thank God! If the Halo franchise needed one thing it was a graphical update. Halo 3 was just a step forward from Halo 2, when it should have been a leap, considering it was on a new console. I hope Halo Reach will be able to compare to a game like Gears of War, but I still have my doubts.
What improvements do you want from Halo Reach?

Again my friend. Bungie had said the same thing when making Halo 3. They made promises of an amazing looking game utilizing the power of the 360. Well, it came out and it looked like Halo 2.5
Now, graphics dont make the game and i truely believe that, however, i would love for Bungie to finally catch up and bring something beautiful to the table. They really have no excuse with all the money they made on the last four games.

I have just seen screens over at Gamesradar.com and i gotta tell you, i am not impressed. Doesnt look much better than Halo 3. To tell you the truth, from has been shown so far, Gears of War 2 will still be the graphics champion of 360. Heck, Mass Effect 2 still blows it away so again Bungie saying that they are pushing the 360s power as far as itll go is probably false. They are probably meaning that they are pushing the graphics as far as they are capable of doing on their own but who would want to put themselves down right so lets blame the consoles limit. Sad sad sad.
Halo 3 still has the best water graphics outside of crisis. And if you dint think halo 3 is waaaaayyy graphically superior to halo 2 pop it in. I did and was amazed. Look close at a grunt in 2 then 3. Kinda better.
I don't really think it matters if it's a graphic upgrade. I like the graphics enough in Halo 3, I just want it to be a game upgrade. ODST was a downgrade in campaign, much more boring and slow, and only offered 3 new maps and a horde mode knock off that barely held my attention for more than a week.
The fact that you need the mythic maps to play certain playlists on multiplayer blows my mind. Buy our new game or you can't play.
Reach better be an amazing campaign, with new gameplay and whole new multiplayer experience. Make it like modern warfare 2 upgrades, plus team fortress 2 classes, meets the halo world and controls, and Im in. Otherwise, snore.
I'll stick to my 50 in halo 3, thx.
Are you serious??? Halo 3 has some of the worst watter effects close to as being as bad as Gears of War 1's water effects. Tons of games have far better water effects like Far Cry 2, Uncharted 2, Killzone 2, Mercenaries 2, Modern Warfare 2, Gears of War 2, Resident Evil 5, Mass Effect, all have better water effects….hell even L4D 1&2 have better water effects. Half-Life 2 has better water effects.
I still play Halo 3 and the textures, rendering, and bump mapping are barely better than Halo 2. I said befroe that i love the Halo games in terms of gameplay but as far as graphics go, they suck. And i do Agree with Alex that it isnt about the graphics but twith the bank that Bungie has been making, they can afford the effort in making a complete package and that includes graphics. If graphics isnt important at all, we would all still have Ps2's and xbox's to play with.
You know what they really need to upgrade?
THE FUN. WOOOOAAAAAAAH.
On a more serious note, I find it interesting that Halo 3's pre-release coverage in EDGE was something huge and monumental, really getting me hyped for the XBox (I didn't own one at the time), but with 4 the space was far less (6-ish pages as opposed to at least 12 for 3) and it… wasn't that exciting. Maybe it's because I really didn't like Halo 3: ODST, but… I'll probably buy it near launch, but I'm definetely not hyped for it.
