343 Industries' creative lead Joseph Staten revealed during an interview with IGN that his favorite game in the Halo series is Halo 3: ODST. For some players, Halo 3: ODST is a comparatively odd choice, but Staten's reasoning was entirely due to the fact that the game didn't require any major feature changes. It allowed the development team to create an experience that wasn't pressured to innovate on what came before it and to create a narrative that was considerably more unique than previous entries.

For plenty of Halo fans, Halo 3: ODST is a fairly polarizing game. It was the first entry in the series to not feature the Master Chief in any capacity and the story and gameplay scenarios were signifcantly different from the titles that came before it. Then again, it also did a lot to expand upon the lore and world-building of Halo as a whole, as well as introduce new, memorable characters.

In any case, it's amazing to see just how much longevity the impact of Halo has had on so many in the gaming community. It makes sense for someone like Staten to feel an intimate attachment to Halo 3: ODST, given his direct involvement with the game's development and his previous history working for Bungie, back when the studio still worked on the Halo franchise. Though, for many fans, Halo 3: ODST and plenty of other games in the series, left a considerably impressive impression that has lasted for several years.

It will be interesting to see how Halo Infinite will be received once it finally releases in December. Many players have expressed grievances in terms of the battle pass in Halo Infinite's multiplayer, but that problem applies only to the multiplayer. With any luck, fans will find plenty of elements to get excited about in terms of Halo Infinite.

Halo Infinite launches on December 8 for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
