As Comic-Con continues, fans across multiple properties and mediums are being treated to even more news pertaining to some of the biggest franchises in the world today. Microsoft is no stranger to blockbuster IP either, as it currently has its fair share at its disposal. While there are several heavy-hitting series being lined up for release on the company's Xbox One, none are more anticipated than Halo 5: Guardians.

Fans are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Master Chief's next adventure, with completely revamped gameplay and even a campaign that stars the likes of Nathan Fillion. Still, multiplayer will be a major focal point for Halo 5: Guardians, and none of the game's online options will be anywhere near as large as the new Warzone mode.

Our hands-on time with Halo 5's Warzone mode showed us how 343 Industries plans on introducing players to a massive and sprawling battle with a number of different tactical positions to take. Now the developer has taken it a step further by revealing a brand new map for the mode called 'Raid on Apex 7', and it's the largest multiplayer battleground ever featured in the Halo series.

As detailed by GameSpot, the newest map was admittedly revealed in a rather peculiar fashion. In lieu of a gameplay trailer or screenshots, 343 Industries has opted to have two individuals spend 16 weeks of their lives piecing together a model of the new Raid on Apex 7 map out of 89,500 Mega Bloks. Oh, and it weights roughly a half-ton.

Albeit a fun way to reveal the map, some longstanding fans may notice some familiarities with the battleground. This is because Raid on Apex 7 is a spiritual successor of sorts to 'The Silent Cartographer' level from the original Halo game. The fact that it's based on an entire level from the campaign should be a good indicator of the map's scale.

Microsoft even released some strategic details for the forthcoming multiplayer battlefield:

"Clearing out the initial Covenant threats and controlling the Forerunner Spire in the center of the island is paramount to a team's success and provides a central base of operations. If your team loses the Spire, don’t despair; players can use a system of caves or taketo the beach to flank the base. Beware of the Covenant though, for they will not let you take this islandso easily. They will counterattack and fight to retake their territory. Continue the push for control of the island and take out the opposition's core… before you awaken something much worse."

Just what Microsoft is hinting at with its "before you awaken something much worse" comment remains to be seen, but there are sure to be more details about Halo 5: Guardians and its new map arriving as Comic-Con 2015 continues. In the meantime, stay tuned to Game Rant for any and all news on the next installment in the Halo series.

Halo 5: Guardians will arrive exclusively for Xbox One on October 27, 2015.
