Hot on the heels of announcing the closure of Halo 2‘s PC servers, Microsoft has reconfirmed when Spartan Ops will make its much awaited return. The weekly episodic series that had been arriving to Halo 4 owners since the game’s launch stopped pumping out episodes for the first season of Spartan Ops back in early December, and players have been hankering for the final five episodes ever since. These gamers can now look forward to the game mode’s triumphant return in the very near future.
Halo 4 fans can brace themselves for Spartan Ops’ return on January 21st, the date that episode six finally finds its way into the virtual hands of wannabe Spartans across the globe. To celebrate the content’s upcoming release, and presumably to show those who’ve yet to try the feature what they’re missing, 343 has released a trailer and some new screenshots of the previously mentioned sixth episode.
Other than reminding players how gorgeous the graphics actually are in Halo 4, the new screenshots and trailer hint at what perils await those who star in the Spartan Ops campaign. The plan is to once again release a new episode every week until all five of the remaining series of missions have been made available. This means that fans can anticipate new episodes until the final one arrives on February 24th – provided they have Xbox Live and a decent Internet connection.
Despite a lack of Spartan Ops missions, players have had a lot of other content to keep them interested in Halo 4. The recently released Crimson Map Pack delivered three new maps to consumers, and there have been a number of play list updates made recently as well. More map packs will be arriving in the coming months too, with the closest one, the Majestic Map Pack, scheduled to arrive in late February.
There’s still plenty of Halo 4 content to look forward to in the coming months, so stay tuned to Game Rant for more details on all of the game’s forthcoming downloadable add-ons.
