It's no secret that the launch of Rockstar and developer Grove Street Games' Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition has gone rather poorly. Between reports of bugs and glitches, and straight-up not working on PC, some players are having a hard time enjoying the collection. However, Grove Street Games CEO Thomas Williamson says that updates are on the way, while the team is "enjoying this unparalleled level of scrutiny on our studio."

Over on Twitter, Williamson and the rest of the team at Grove Street Games are celebrating their work on the project whilst getting hard to work on updates to quell the numerous bugs and graphical mishaps that many gamers are currently experiencing with Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition. Curiously, Williamson also claims that he and the team are enjoying the time in the spotlight while under the harsh scrutiny of the internet. The responses, as one can imagine to this tweet, aren't the most positive as many gamers are pointing out the game should have been better polished or optimized before release and that fixes need to happen ASAP.

These problems aren't happening to all players (or at least not to the extent as some) but it certainly seems to be an overall issue. Players have reported bugs that include problems with lighting, rain that makes it hard to play, audio issues, numerous collision detection problems, and the list goes on. The facial work done on characters has been the butt of many jokes on social media, as a quick cursory glance over at Reddit or Twitter will show hundreds of memes and videos sharing players' experiences as well as outrage at changes to GTA Trilogy's original three games.

Meanwhile, gamers wishing to play GTA Trilogy on PC have been met with the maintenance of the Rockstar Games Launcher, which is required to boot up any Rockstar game on PC, regardless of single-player or multiplayer functionality. The service has been down for about 20 hours at the time of writing with no hints as to when it will be restored, leaving players in the dark.

The lack of footage and information regarding GTA Trilogy pre-release, coupled with the numerous bugs upon its launch, has fans rightly upset and it's a shame this collection of such historically important games didn't receive more time to be polished and optimized for release. Hopefully, Grove Street Games will be able to turn around some updates sooner rather than later.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition is available now for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
