The holidays have arrived in Grand Theft Auto Online and Red Dead Online, as Rockstar is offering free gifts to anyone who logs on before December 30. To add to the festive mood, snowfall will cover GTA Online’s southern Los Santos and all five states of Red Dead Online’s frontier.

In addition to the snow, both of the games’ environments are decked with holiday decorations. In GTA Online, local businesses are adorned with boughs of holly and a Christmas tree can be found in Legion Square. An assortment of gifts await players, including a number of holiday-themed sweaters, free vehicle decorations, and a holiday package packed with ordinance, including a Firework Launcher. There is also a free vehicle, the Santa Clause red Grotti Brioso 300.

For the outlaws of Red Dead Online, gunsmiths on the frontier are giving away free Winter Evans Repeaters, a new gun variant. That’s not the only new weapon, as players will also be able to purchase the seasonal Krampus Shotgun variant of the double barrel shotgun before the week is over. All players will receive a coupon for a free coat of their choice, as well as a free repeater. There are also several cash and XP bonuses available across festive renditions of several game modes. Stables are getting in on the festivities by selling a range of new Turkoman horse breeds.

Stores in Red Dead Online will also be decorated with holiday baubles and will offer players various discounts. Players who connect their Rockstar Games Social club account to their Prime Gaming account will get a little extra, as they will receive a free bounty hunter license and an award for a bounty wagon livery.

Red Dead Online recently released as a stand-alone game on the Epic Store and Steam, where it is currently available for the discounted price of $5 until February 20, 2021. Rockstar’s Christmas special is not the only time that the outlaws of Red Dead Online have gotten into the festive mood. In October, a Halloween themed update brought the return of the dead from the first game’s Undead Nightmare, though that only lasted about two weeks.

GTA Online recently received its biggest update since launching seven years ago, the Cayo Perico Heist. The update takes players to a brand new island location and for the first time allows them to complete the entire GTA heist solo. The new update has been positively received by fans, who seem appreciative that they have something to hold them over until GTA 6.

GTA Online is out now for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions in development. Red Dead Online is available for PC, PS4, Xbox One and Google Stadia.
