Online Heists were finally added to Grand Theft Auto Online earlier this week, which means that players around the world were bound to run into some trouble online. Ever since the launch of Grand Theft Auto 5 in 2013, fans have been waiting for Rockstar to implement online heists, because the only thing better than stealing tons of money in the single-player is doing it with people you know personally. Heists have been one of - if not the most - desired features for GTA Online, and it'd be a huge bummer if anyone was left out of the fun after waiting so long.

The addition of online heists likely saw the return of many players that had since stopped playing the game, and that group of people combined with the usual players - alongside the rest of Xbox Live - is most likely one of the causes for the recent issues. Prior to today, players were reporting issues with playing games with others, and the Rockstar Cloud service (where GTA Online characters are housed) was spitting out a few error messages of its own.

Both the Rockstar Support and Xbox Live Status pages were updated yesterday to acknowledge the problems, but new updates made today suggest that everything is back to normal. The Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3 and PS4 versions of the game were said to be up and running, as well as the Rockstar Social Club, but as of this writing, all four systems are displaying 'Limited' status', with each once again citing GTA Online connection issues.

Funnily enough, this week's troubles are similar to GTA Online's issues at launch. In both cases, though, fixes came relatively quickly, and players could get back to running around GTA's massive world.

On the Xbox 360, specifically, the Xbox Live status is still set to 'Limited,' with users experiencing problems related to downloading items that have already been bought. Signing into Xbox Live from Xbox.com is another reported problem, though it's unknown if it's related to everything else. Microsoft explains that they will post another update as soon as possible, and hopefully it will be one that puts the minds of the Xbox 360 community at ease.

"Hey Xbox members, if you are having difficulties trying to download Themes and Gamer pics, we're aware of the issues and are working hard to get them resolved ASAP. Thank you for being patient! We’ll post another update as soon as we have more information."

Grand Theft Auto Online's long-awaited Heists allow for up to four players to work together across several "intense, multi-part heists, raids and robberies." The content comes as part of a free update for every platform, though some lucky players were able to get a head start. If you think you need a little more info before attempting one of the heists, Rockstar released two videos earlier this week that detail teamwork and armed robbery. You can never know too much about how to rob a bank.
