Grand Theft Auto Online Heists Further Delayed

Since Grand Theft Auto Online's launch back in October of last year, Rockstar Games has slowly been rolling out regular updates for their multiplayer mode. Just this week, for example, they released the 'I'm Not a Hipster' update, which adds new vehicles, new modes, and new clothing options to the game.

But while Grand Theft Auto Online players always welcome the addition of new content, many are left wondering whether the promised Online Heists might release anytime soon. After all, the developer had told players that the feature would hit in the spring, but that season has come and gone without so much as a peep.

As it turns out, Rockstar did have a message for GTA Online players about Heists, you just had to look through the comments of the I'm Not a Hipster post to find it. In it, the developer reveals that Online Heists have taken much longer than expected and thus have been delayed to an unknown date. Much like with GTA Online, Rockstar wants to ensure that they get the Heists feature right before launching it out to the public. Well, that's what they hope for, but of course we know that the GTA Online launch was not without its problems.

Grand Theft Auto Online Stimulus Delay

It's also worth mentioning that Rockstar, or rather Sony in place of Rockstar, just recently announced current-gen and PC ports for Grand Theft Auto 5, so it's safe to assume those titles are also taking up a fair bit of the developer's time.

For those of you asking about other upcoming GTA Online updates, we have lots more in store coming your way soon. We know many fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of the Online Heists that we had planned to release for you this spring, and they are taking more time to create than originally anticipated. We are very sorry for the delay, and are working hard to bring them to you as soon as we can. Please know that we are focused as always on making the best possible content for you to play and we are thankful to all of you for your patience, understanding and support. Stay tuned for more information on that as well as lots of other ongoing content updates, enhancements and additions to the world of GTA Online that are on the way.

The good news is that Online Heists are still coming, but the bad news is Rockstar won't say when exactly they will arrive. Meant to capture the same intense atmosphere of Grand Theft Auto 5's campaign heists, only on (presumably) a larger scale, these online heists are now a major point of focus for GTA Online players. For many the feature will be the reason they return to the multiplayer, while for others it's just the next big thing to look forward to.

Single player gamers, on the other hand, have the promise of story DLC to look ahead to, but like these Online Heists, we suspect Rockstar is taking their time with them. Perhaps when the PS4, PC, and Xbox One versions of the game hit that might be a good time for Rockstar to start talking about DLC to generate some interest, but for now the company is keeping quiet. They're going to have to break that silence soon, though, lest the fans get antsy.

Are you still interested in online heists or has the time passed? What other features would you like to see added to Grand Theft Auto Online?
