[Update: The "official" GTA V trailer released!]

Grand Theft Auto V is one of Game Rant's most highly-anticipated titles of 2013, and with good reason. Not only is the game a follow-up to the excellent Grand Theft Auto IV, promising yet more highly illegal mayhem, shootouts and dangerous driving, it also features a map that's bigger than those for GTA IV, GTA: San Andreas and Red Dead Redemption combined.

All is not well for developers Rockstar Games on the road to launching however, despite the game having gone gold and the fact that it's currently on of the most pre-ordered games of 2013. A slip-up by Sony has meant that a handful of details and spoilers for GTA V have spilled onto the internet.

VG24/7 reports that GTA V was made available for pre-load in some regions to gamers who had pre-ordered the game through PSN ahead of its September release date, and as a result a number of files and assets were leaked and made available online. Based on the pre-load, it seems that Grand Theft Auto V is an 18GB download, a step up in size from GTA IV's 15GB package.

Sony and Rockstar quickly responded to the leak, with Sony issuing an apology to Rockstar for the slip-up and promptly removing the pre-load from the PlayStation Store. Rockstar responded to questions about the leak in a comment on the developer's official website, in which they admitted to being "disappointed" by the leak but remained positive about the impending release of the new game:

"We’re pleased to confirm that 'Grand Theft Auto V' has officially gone gold and we’re now preparing the game for release on September 17th for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Unfortunately, as many of you may already know, some people who downloaded the digital pre-order of 'Grand Theft Auto V' through the PlayStation Store in Europe were able to access certain 'GTAV' assets leading to leaked information and media from the game appearing online... As you can imagine, we are deeply disappointed by leaks and spoilers being spread in advance of the game's launch. 'GTAV' represents years of hard work by many people across the world, and we all couldn't be more excited to finally share it with you properly this September 17th. Please stay tuned here at the Rockstar Newswire for all announcements about 'GTAV' between now and game release as we definitely still have more to officially reveal."

The leak also included audio for the songs that will be available on radio stations as players cruise through Los Santos in whatever vehicle they've decided to pilfer. The full list has been compiled over on Reddit, but before reading ahead you should be absolutely sure that you're OK with having GTA V's soundtrack spoiled for you. It might be more fun to wait until the game comes out and be pleasantly surprised when the in-game DJs start playing your favorite tune. The main theme for the game was also leaked and uploaded to YouTube, but has since been taken down.

Keep in mind the fact that this track list may be incomplete and/or inaccurate, but it looks like a great mix from enough music genres to keep everyone happy. If GTA V is eventually ported to PC (and next-gen consoles), it's likely that gamers will also be able to create their own custom radio station consisting of their personal favorite driving songs, since this has been possible in a number of the previous games.

Though it seems that at least some of the leaked material is genuine, be wary of false "spoilers" for the game, and don't believe every detail you might come across. Tell us if you like the looks of GTA V's soundtrack, and which radio station you're likely to play the most whilst driving, in the comments.

Grand Theft Auto 5 releases September 17, 2013 for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
