‘Grand Theft Auto 5′ Screenshots: Take a Bike Tour of Los Santos

 by

While we haven’t heard much about Grand Theft Auto 5 in going on a month or so now, three new screenshots have just been released that tease some of the many ways in which players will be able to zip around the city of Los Santos. As with past GTA iterations, there are some clever new additions for gamers to play around with, but nothing all that unexpected.

Perhaps the most unique new addition to Grand Theft Auto 5 is the bicycle. Obviously, in this version of South California, there’s a greater focus on health and environmentally conscious forms of travel, making the bike a perfect way to cover short distances. However, if Grand Theft Auto 5‘s open world is as big as Rockstar Games says it is, that might make bike travel pretty inconvenient.

Thankfully, right after the unveiling of the bike, is a new form of sports car that we can see is labeled the ‘Cheeta.’ The Grand Theft Auto series has always been known for its eclectic cast of vehicles, and if the Cheeta is just the tip of the iceberg then we are certainly intrigued.

And, of course, it wouldn’t be a GTA title without some over-the-top forms of travel, and the jet fills that bill nicely. GTA: San Andreas, which was set in a smaller version of Los Santos, was the first in the series to really focus on the aerial travel, but this screenshot, and the final scene in the GTA 5 trailer, suggest flight will be an important element in this highly anticipated title.

Despite getting a closer look at Grand Theft Auto 5‘s forms of transport, and the promise of more screenshots in the week, we’re still wary of the lack of content being released to support such a huge title. After revealing the trailer to the masses, Rockstar Games ostensibly went radio silent, and have since not revealed much in the way of story or gameplay. A new set of viral sites have been rejuvenated, though, suggesting that development is ramping up.

Furthermore, the idea that Grand Theft Auto 5 might release by year’s end has gone out the window, leaving us now to assume that May (a key month for Rockstar releases) is when the title will release.

What do you think of the new GTA 5 screenshots? Are you excited to take a bike tour of Los Santos?

Grand Theft Auto 5 should be targeting a mid-2013 release for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

  1. I am confused, I thought Los Santos is based on LA? Or is that the one in San Andreas?

    • Los Santos = LA. San Andreas = California. More or less.

  2. to the idiot who said there is another series as big as grand theft auto you are truly stupid!!!
what other game you know can release this sort of info and get this big of a buzz
i will repeat there is no gaming series bigger than grandtheft auto none

    • Call of Duty. That might change when GTA V releases, but for now CoD remains the biggest franchise.

    • “what other game you know can release this sort of info and get this big of a buzz” Half life 3, saying the name on the internet gets about a million eyes upon you.

  3. These screenshots just reawakened my excitement for GTA V! I think bicycles will be there to help you to cover short distances quicker. There were plenty of times in GTA IV when I had to run forever, but a bike would’ve helped me travel faster. Stealing a car to travel 1 block is kind of a hassle.

The Cheeta looks awesome! It looks like Rockstar has designed a bunch of new cars for GTA V, including exotics like the Cheeta and the ones seen in the trailer. And I’m excited for air travel to be more important, as it was barely even present in GTA IV. Piloting a fighter jet will be sweet!

  4. lets all just for joy over 3 screenshots of a hd remake huzah for a studio that is milking the hell out of their only ‘prize fighter’.

you suckers can have fun playing this load of same old same old bs, whilst i will be hunting bears and deer in far cry 3 ;)

    • Just get both lol, FC3 for the Jungle Life, and GTAV for the City Life…where everything ain’t gonna kill ya. I’, equally excited for both of them, as both of them are looking to bring epic experiences and tons of fun time to have :D

      • gta v will be san andreas in hd with some minor changes/additions, nothing worth jumping for joy over. as it is, i’m fine with going back and playing vice city of san andreas on my 360 due to backwards compatibility so again, no need to waste cash of a hd remake ;)

  5. It’s pretty clear the H in “CHEETAH” is simply washed out by the reflected sunlight. Just an observation.

  6. it looks like they may be bringing some of the old stuff from GTA San Andreas, which is great.

  7. Well well finally some new GTA5 news. I enjoyed using the bike in San Andreas for doing endos and wheelies. The screenshots show a lot of promise of what to come. Also wasn’t the cheetah in VC?
