Grand Theft Auto 5 - big pile o money

Grand Theft Auto V broke seven different Guinness World Records this year, becoming the fastest-selling game of all time as well as the best-selling game ever released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The open-world crime game made a staggering $800 million in its 24 hours of release and crossed the $1 billion mark within three days. If anyone was worried that the most expensive video game ever made wasn't going to break even, it's fair to say that those concerns have been settled.

The success of GTA V has understandably caused quite a stir amongst both gamers and developers. Jonathan Morin, creative director of open-world hackathon Watch Dogs, said that he's not interested in trying to emulate GTA V's success by copying elements from Rockstar's game, but Activision's brand manager Kevin Flynn has pledged to "get the record back" with Call of Duty before the next GTA game is released.

Flynn's ambitious goal is getting ever harder to reach however, as GTA V's sales continue to climb. With just six weeks gone by since its launch, Take-Two happily revealed that 29 million units of GTA V have now been sold across both platforms. Just imagine all the cars crashed and bullets fired. It's kind of beautiful, when you think about it.

And just wait until the rumored PC and next-gen versions release, if they are indeed in development.

GTA 5 - Chop the Dog

In related news, owners of Android phones can now connect to GTA V on the go with the iFruit app, which has been available for iOS devices since the game's release and is finally now available for Android phones as well. The game includes the ability to access the Rockstar Games Social Club, create custom vehicles and license plates, and play a virtual pet game with "Chop the Dog."

The app is free but many GTA fans were apparently unamused by the long wait for its arrival on Android and have been pretty unforgiving of what is apparently a range of bugs and issues that come with the app, as well as the limited number of things that can be done with it. Based on the current consensus, it might be better to wait for updates that fix the issues before adding the iFruit app to your phone.

Grand Theft Auto V is available now on PS3 and Xbox 360.
