Rockstar Games announces the Grand Theft Auto Online 'Be My Valentine' event which adds a new Adversary Mode, vehicles, clothes and more in time for Valentine's Day.

Although Valentine's Day is more commonly associated with the commercialization of romance and overpriced heart-shaped gifts, this year's day of love has also had some nice things in store for gamers. For example, Destiny is ushering in a brand new Crucible game type and these fan-made Fallout 4 Valentine's Day cards let players show their appreciation for the game's companions. Also joining in on the romantic fun is Grand Theft Auto Onlineas Grand Theft Auto 5's online multiplayer mode is celebrating Valentine's Day with its 'Be My Valentine' event on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

The main feature of 'Be My Valentine' is a new Adversary Mode called Til Death Do Us Part. The latest game mode to be added to the title following the parachuting Drop Zone mode, Til Death Do Us Part sees up to four pairs of players take part in "the ultimate GTA Online quadruple date". Here, the goal is to take down other couples, but with each couple only having one life between them and with couples having health regeneration bonuses for staying close together, it's not going to be easy.

Be My Valentine also adds a brand new vehicle. Called the Albany Roosevelt Valor, it is is an updated version of the "classic" Roosevelt and it can be purchased from Legendary Motorsport – with "exciting" modifications also available from Los Santos Customs. Pairing nicely with that vintage vehicle are some new threads for both male and female characters including: suits, vests, bustiers, boxer shorts, stockings, and "more." Valentine's Day clothes and masks from previous GTA Online events are also being brought back, along with the Gusenberg Sweeper machine gun.

Rockstar is also offering a variety of discounts and bonuses until Thursday, February 18. These include double GTA$ and RP for Til Death Do Us Part, 50% off of all SMG ammunition and free admission to movie theatres, and the Ferris Whale and Leviathan rides at the Del Perro Pier. There are some "exclusive" unlockable t-shirts too, though these are only available to GTA Online players who log into the game on PC, PS4, or Xbox One this weekend – Saturday is the "Nelson In Naples" shirt and Sunday is the "An American Divorce" shirt.

While the Be My Valentine update isn't quite as substantial as previous updates, such as GTA Online's Lowriders update which added several new missions, players shouldn't expect this to be the last of GTA Online's content drops. Rockstar's parent company Take-Two recently revealed that GTA Online had its 'best week ever' during the holidays and the multiplayer mode is still making bank. As Rockstar and Take-Two hope to see that continue, it's highly likely that more of these free updates will be rolled out in future.
