GTA Online - Shooting from the helicopter

While Grand Theft Auto 5's recently announced first-person mode is very impressive, there's still one thing that players have been waiting for since the game launched last year: heists. Specifically, the kind of heists you can play in GTA Online with other people.

Rockstar has been relatively quiet about the heavily desired mode, but it'd be crazy to think that the studio wasn't still working on it; if only a little bit since the new first-person perspective took a bit of time and effort to implement. In a new interview with IGN, Rockstar reassured that online heists would come to GTA V "soon," but a date for it wasn't mentioned. So, really, nothing's changed and we're still left waiting.

On the upside, however, when online heists do launch, they'll come to all platforms, as opposed to first-person mode, which is exclusive to GTA V for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Best case scenario for heists is that Rockstar announces them prior to the game's launch on current-gen hardware, on which it'll also come to first, with last-gen to follow shortly after. Not only would fans finally get something definitive related to heists, but the appeal of playing them first in the newer versions of the game would only further entice people to make the jump. That is, assuming there are still people that haven't already decided.

Leading up to the second release of GTA V, Rockstar has taken to showing the differences between its older and newer versions through a massive amount of screenshots and a comparison video. Of course, you can't just look at the newer stuff and trust your eyes to spot the improvements, because everything always looks better in hindsight. With the comparison video in particular, you can see the PS3 and PS4 versions side-by-side, thereby making the changes to resolution, textures, and draw distance much more noticeable. Rockstar wasn't messing around when it came to the visual improvements.

Even GTA Online will return with a few upgrades, including more toys to play with in the content creator, a more in-depth character creator, first-person mode, and support for 30-player gametypes. For that last one, brace yourself for getting startled and randomly run over a lot more than you ever did on the Xbox 360 and PS3.
