Next week owners of both iOS and Android devices will be able to relive their fondest memories of Grand Theft Auto 3 whereever they go, as Rockstar officially announced that Grand Theft Auto 3: 10 Year Anniversary Edition will be hitting these platforms next Thursday.

The release of GTA 3 on smart phones is just one part of the 10th Anniversary celebration. Rockstar is also offering posters, coffee mugs with brass knuckles and a limited edition Claude action figure for the not-so-low price of $149.99. It’s a bit steep, but for those who live to collect rare video game swag, this is a must buy. Just make that purchase sooner than later, cause Rockstar will only be offering 1500 units of this figure.

Both the iPad 1 & 2 will be able to run this game as well as the iPhone 4, 4s and 4th Generation iPod Touch. The most recent Android devices will also be able to run the game, including the Motorola Droid X2 and Samsung Galaxy R. Be sure to head over to the Rockstar site for the full list of supported smart phones and tablets.

Along with the news of the release date, Rockstar also offered some screens of both the Android and iOS versions of the game.

The game is looking pretty crisp in these screen shots, and we also get to see how the game will control. It looks like the mobile version of GTA 3 will utilize the standard touch interface for controlling vehicles and Claude. It’s no Grand Theft Auto 5, but it will do until that game is launched. There’s no word yet on if the mobile version of GTA 3 will support motion control on these devices.

Grand Theft Auto 3: 10 Year Anniversary Edition launches December 15th on iOS and Android for $4.99.
