God of War III: Ultimate Trilogy Edition Debuts

With several games already released and God of War III dropping on March 16, it seems that God of War fans can’t get enough of Kratos and the Gods of Olympus.  However, this time around fans will have to open Pandora’s Box if they want the ultimate God of War experience.

Sony has released an image of the very cool God of War III Ultimate Trilogy Edition package, and I must say that it’s a pretty tempting buy. The set comes with a replica of Pandora’s Box, which displays nicely through the clear window on the packaging. I’m not sure if the box itself houses the game discs, but it’s one sharp looking piece for game collectors.

This European bundle also includes both God of War III as well as the God of War Collection featuring remastered versions of God of War and God of War II. Other content includes:

• Extra game content downloadable via PlayStation Network
• God of War Combat Arena containing an exclusive environment and seven challenges to complete
• Dominus character skin
• Apollo character skin
• Phantom of Chaos character skin
• Forgotten Warrior character skin
• Special audio bonus
• God of War Trilogy Soundtrack – God of War I, II, and III scores from the game (3 CDs in total)
• God of War: Blood and Metal EP – a heavy metal homage featuring original music inspired by God of War (downloadable via PSN)
• Artbook
• Postcards

This limited edition release will be available for preorder to residents of Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. The U.S. will also receive a God of War III Ultimate Edition, but that set won’t contain the postcards or God of War Collection, and it will ship in a solid box rather than the neat display shown above. The European version was rumored to have a price tag of well over $200.00, while the U.S. version is running $99.99. Clearly, small plastic display windows are in high demand and short supply in the U.K.
