Ghost Recon Breakpoint releases this fall, but prior to its launch on October 4, 2019, players will be able to jump into a beta for the third-person military shooter. While details are slim on what is included in the beta, including even when it will take place, Ubisoft has already let players know how to get access to the beta.

Currently, the only guaranteed way to get into the Ghost Recon Breakpoint beta is by pre-ordering any edition of the game. It's pretty standard fare for beta access, as many developers and publishers often use a beta as an extra incentive for pre-ordering their games. Players have the option of buying the Standard Edition ($60), Gold Edition ($100), Ultimate Edition (%120), and the Wolves Collectors Edition ($190). Additionally, anyone can register to receive a beta code here at Ubisoft's website, although getting a beta code is not guaranteed.

As a reminder, only a pre-order is required, not a full purchase of the game, so pre-ordering through retailers such as GameStop and Amazon that do not charge until the game ships or is picked up in-store will still let players secure a beta code whether or not they follow through with a full purchase of the game.

It is also worth pointing out that Ghost Recon Breakpoint will not be available on Steam on PC. Instead, the PC version of the game will be exclusive to the Epic Games Store and Ubisoft's own Uplay service. It's something to keep in mind for PC players when pre-ordering or planning to play either the beta or full game.

The release date of the beta is currently unknown, but Ubisoft said that it would take place closer to the launch of the game. Ubisoft also has not made any announcement about the possibility of an earlier private beta (or alpha) and a public beta, which it operated for Ghost Recon Wildlands and the more recent The Division 2.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint is the sequel to 2017's Ghost Recon Wildlands, which sees Jon Bernthal's character that came to Wildlands in the latest Operation Oracle update as the primary antagonist in this sequel. As revealed in a lengthy gameplay trailer for Breakpoint, the sequel contains far more survival elements than any previous Ghost Recon game, but still maintains the co-op and squad-based tactical shooter action from Wildlands.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint releases October 4, 2019 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
