Now that the Gears of War 3 Horde Command Pack rollout delay is behind us, and gamers can now focus on it and future DLC packs releasing without a hitch, Epic Games has released a new trailer showcasing what all comes with that Horde Command Pack.

Probably the most exciting element of the pack, and the reason that most gamers flocked to the Gears of War 3 Season Pass, was the promise of three new multiplayer maps (Azura, Rust Lung, and Blood Drive). Unfortunately, those three maps, along with two classics from Gears 1 have been rolled into the Versus Booster Pack, which will be releasing on Thanksgiving of this year — making the whole Season Pass exclusivity pretty useless thus far.

Along with the new maps, comes three new characters to use in both horde mode and online in the competitive multiplayer. Those characters — Bernie, Onyx Guard, and Big Rig Dizzy (who does a splendid job laying out the Horde Command Pack details in the trailer) — would be considered by many to be the second reason to pick up Horde Command.

And finally, the last piece of Horde Command outlined in the trailer is the new horde mode fortifications. Meant to help players deliver a bigger punch to the Locust and Lambent onslaught, these fortifications include better command center options, rockets for the Silverback mechs, new turrets, and the ability to turn your decoys into Onyx Guards. If you’re having trouble cracking the last couple rounds of horde mode, perhaps these new fortifications will push your co-op team over the edge.

There is one more part of the Horde Command Pack that is not detailed in the trailer, the set of new weapon skins, but since those have become the new horse armor, it’s best not to focus on them.

As was said before, Horde Command is available now for either 1200 MS Points or for free if you already purchased the Gears 3 Season Pass. And then, in mid-December comes the real meaty DLC pack, Raam’s Shadow.

Have you had a chance to pick up the Horde Command Pack? How do you like the new maps, horde fortifications, and characters?
